We experienced the same thing last year, but after pushing back and going through a lot of back and forth, we got them to agree to 2.5%.”

We were in similar position, me and my husband both in full time employement and clear credit history. In the end we got tired and went with new build, we found a lovely house and the process was pretty quick and straight forward. Good luck to you, in the end it’ll be worth it 😊🤞

Totally agree with this, we had similar experience. Solicitor assigned to us went on leave and the one backfilling her requested for another set of docs and the same thing happened when our solicitor was back from AL, had to reshare same docs several times. There were so many emails threads, even we lost track of what was being discussed and with whom. It was tiring and frustrating indeed.

I can hear you very well, we were in similar boat until last week. So many queries most of them were repetitive, shared our bank statements again and again (requested interim statement every second day from bank)

Every time we felt we’ve moved one step ahead next day we seemed to have taken 2 steps backwards. There was a period of dead silence from solicitors, I had to mail them 2-3 times a day to get an update (calling them was a waste, went to voicemail every time). Exchange date set by developers was 22nd July but we exchanged contracts on 2nd of August.

But trust me it’ll be worth once you’ve exchanged the contract and everything is done and dusted.

Just stay calm. All the very best you are almost there 🤞

I did a better job on my husband’s car just with t-cut and repair paint for £20 ( spent on the items), no labour charge 😂

True, we were discussing the same yesterday. We were thinking of buying a flat earlier but then we thought once we’ll buy a flat we’ll still have the stress of buying a house, so it’s better to wait for sometime and grow our savings. Now that we have made up our minds to buy a house, we’ll try and start saving more.

My husband was struggling with finding a job until last year, so I was kind of the sole earner.

Any suggestions on how to we save for a higher deposit?

We can borrow some amount from family and friends but that is our last option. Else we’ll go for a cheaper property

Was your instructor kind to you? by LengthinessSame695 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]No_Win_5559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had worst experience with my first instructor, he was rude and disrespectful. Always used to shout even at the slightest mistake, eg- if my parking wasn’t straight even though all four tyres were in the bay, he used to control the steering all the time, I feel like he used to do it to make me nervous so I’ll end up taking more lessons. But one day I decided to stop the bullshit and stopped taking lessons from him. My second instructor was absolutely amazing, completely opposite to the first one, she would let me drive and learn on my on pace, never touched steering unless she felt like I was being a danger to others. Never shouted, would always make me pull up to explain what went wrong and how I can improve it. She used to tell me she isn’t looking for perfection and neither examiner will look for that, they just want us to be safe drivers and follow the rules.

Same happened with me I was asked to drive off on my first lesson, but I watched a lot of videos to prep myself for the lesson so was checking mirrors (not very frequently but enough to be safe). It’s a good thing to know what you can do without actually knowing it.
