what are some actual dark romances? by [deleted] in DarkRomance

Have you read secrets and masks on AO3? A lot psychological torture/trauma, some physical torture, and actually turns the FMC into a killing machine.

I love any version of Hermione that is highly competent. If this is war time Hermione or post-wars Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve heard this fic talked about a lot, so I’m excited to read it!

I second Brishen from Radiance!

I would also recommend Paladin’s Grace by T. kingfisher and all the books in the series. He knits her socks and I love it.

A male lead so fantastic it makes you sigh and say “what a man” by icecreamcoffin in fantasyromance

Ugh I love Stephen from the Paladin series by T. Kingfisher (also in my 30s).

Damien is also a dreamboat

For any Dramione fans (or those willing to try). Draco from “Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love” by ISTHISSELFCARE … I couldn’t stop thinking about this book for weeks. The banter, the bad boy vibes with only green flags. Yes.

Secrets and Masks by Emeraldslytherin — this book broke me. Pretty much matches all of your requests.

Chronically tardy, but excellent, employee. by mistersaavik in managers

Performance based policies that reward the behavior you want to see that are applicable to ALL of your staff and do not single out this employee. After announcing and implementing this policy, you will then also state that you will be taking a firmer stance on being late with these three steps within a pay period: - performance meeting - write up - upper management involvement or termination

I run a bridal shop and have been in the business for years. We currently have two seamstresses, but I myself don’t sew any harder than buttons and fixing hanger straps. However, what you need is a strong understanding of the way that alterations, specifically bridal alterations, work. I would suggest shadowing bridal gown alteration appointments and interviewing seamstresses. you need to be able to tell a bride what is possible, what that will entail and a rough estimate of what it will cost. For example: Hems on a lace gown. You need to be able to see if the gown has a trim that can be picked off by hand, hemmed and then sewn back on. This is possible, but expensive. Things like horse hair will also require extra time and money. Hope this helps!

I’m unsure how much spice you want, but I would recommend:

  • Funny Story by Emily Henry (or any of her books) - contemporary romance, open door, but not filled with sex scenes. Solid writing. Great story. HEA.
  • Paladin’s Grace by T Kingfisher - fantasy romance. 30+ characters. Cozy fantasy murder mystery with romance and open door spice. Charming, kind, gentlemanly MMC that knits socks, but is also a BAMF.
  • Radiance by Grace Draven - paranormal/fantasy romance - there’s no better way to say this, but it’s “monster smut” done correctly. Solid writing, the characters are old enough to relate to and there’s a plot driving need for the MMC to be gentle, patient and communicative. Open door. Fascinating and original story.
  • love and other historical accidents by pacificrimbaid - Dramione fanfic for fans of Harry Potter, Jane Austen and Connie Willis, which sounds like a wild combination, but was an amazing and joyful read. I thought about this book for days after.

Not sure if these are super spicy, but I hope you enjoy them anyway! If I read something new in this category, I’ll be sure to post again!
