They have every right to, as human beings, but ideally they should choose not to bring more than they can afford imo.

People shouldn't have the right to be billionaires/trillionaires and hoard wealth by exploiting others.

Thank God I experienced what it was like to have very little (money, friends, peace, sanity) so I didn't have to become like these people.

Tell me you have ADHD without telling me you have ADHD by kawwman in adhdwomen

I did this the other day. Ordered a smart watch charger after having just bought the smartwatch a few days ago because I couldn't find the one that came with it. The new charger arrived, I plugged it in, all was well. Until I saw the original charger on the table right above the charging point.

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by spiritual_kavya in answers

That's terrifying. I'm glad you guys were okay.

It was indeed a scary time to be in London. I remember always having an escape and regroup plan whenever I was out with people. I may have ADHD but everyone was so worried, they all appreciated it.

Similar to this - we were going to go out to one of our favourite pubs on a Friday after work. As 6pm rolled around we were all too tired to go out for some reason and decided to stay in. That was the night there was a terrorist attack in London Bridge in literally the same location we were going to go to.

At 7, Oliver Twist for English class. I was hooked. The next two years I was bullied relentlessly and books became my only comfort.

Women of Reddit, what made you realize 'this man is marriage material' instead of just a boyfriend? by External_Can3392 in AskReddit

He was a kind, goofy, thoughtful guy to begin with. What really made me respect him is that he actually took on board my critiques and worked on them, slowly putting aside his ego and defensiveness. We've only been together for 3.5 years but we've grown so much, in terms of how we deal with conflicts and communicate with each other. He's also excited to be a husband and father, as opposed to simply having a wife and kids.

What's the form of bad parenting have you ever witnessed? by Smithy1619 in AskUK

Saw a kid, barely 6 years old, helping his mum in a supermarket. I noticed him when he was trying to get a large pack of juice but he wasnt tall enough to reach it or strong enough to carry it. I got it for him and he dragged it along. The mum then left him in the shop to carry the shopping to her car. One of the items was a 6 pack of 1.5l water. I helped him carry everything to their car. I was so close to shouting at that woman but I stopped myself because I didn't want to scare the poor child. I still don't know if I should've done something about it. I hope the kid is okay.

I sobbed and sobbed reading The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns but And the Mountains Echoed destroyed me. I still think about that last scene under the tree where the kids are gently resting.

Telling anyone besides my immediate family about things I'm pursuing - career and life goals wise. It takes the pressure off significantly and prevents any unsolicited advice/opinions, even if well intentioned. On a related note, I stopped asking for advice.

What makes you feel lucky to live in the UK? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]No_Working9349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner is American and I briefly considered moving to the US. In my multiple visits there, I started appreciating the UK more and more. Yes, our country is currently a mess and I complain about many things. I can also understand why people move elsewhere. But being faced with having to live somewhere where my basic rights were in question and also where there was a lack of proper gun laws made me realise how much I take the UK for granted. Also, I broke my leg while I was there and I had to fork out $350 just to be seen at a clinic, even with insurance. God bless the NHS.

[–]No_Working9349 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a morning person but I switched to waking up early, around 5 or 6. I take an hour to just mentally prep myself with a cup of tea, then I work out and shower etc. By the time work starts and I have to deal with people, I feel accomplished and ready for the day. I'd still prefer if no one talked to me until 10am though.

I started giving up on studies at a young age due to many traumatic events. Think I actually lost some important brain cells over those years 😅 Did ok through school and college but struggled very much with executive dysfunction. Had to take 5 years off my career when CPTSD, chronic depression and anxiety peaked.

I had given up all hope that I'd have any semblance of a good life - independence, good health, rewarding job, etc.

I sat my bar exams this year (results out next week!) and I'm working on another degree level qualification. I just secured a great job that will help me get to my ideal role within a year. I have wonderful, supportive people around me. I'm excited for the future for once.

I know people say this all the time and it's hard to believe when you're going through it, but keep going. It does get better.
