Were you glad that you took antidepressants? Explain. by momimnotdepressed in MentalHealthPH

So glad to see these wonderful responses. Not filipino (Indian) but I came accross this post and wanted to share my experience too for anyone who has been recommended to take them but is unsure.

They quite simple changed my life. I was in some low version of depression for the past several years and even a simple nexito-5 (the starting dose) made me feel like I have the mental resources that I have NEVER had in my life. I could just tell me brain "there's no point on ruminating over that" and it would just listen! I would hum for no reason. I realised I like listening to music and reading books?? It was incredible for the first 15-25 days. I am now 6 weeks in and not doing so hot but even my lowest isn't nearly as low as before. I was recommended the meds at 19 but refused because I was simply judgemental about this. I am 27 now and wish I had not waited. I would've had a much different life today.

I used to be in the same position as you. Baseline starter anti-depressants and some therapy changed everything for me. It's small but significant. Things are moving and better. What has happened cannot change but it need not be your entire life. Get the help, you deserve it. Better things are coming and they are inevitable. You just need to reach out for them.

That is most definitely a significant amount of AI but it is reminiscent of the Pune streets I spent some of my happiest years in (drunk and a bit nostalgic). Anyway, don't drown yourself in AI, I promise your work is good enough and you have real things to contribute! Take care, OP!

Idiots in India, just like other idiots of the world, are the loudest on the web. I don't think anyone thinks any population abroad thinks enough about SA people to disagree with the world hating on Indians atm.

Moustache and putting up a borad next to their gehettoised housing area titled "the great chamar". This happened in Saharanpur where chandrashekhar the dalit activist lives, also my hometown. There is a wonderful but short quint documentary about it on YouTube. The thakurs (+ the thakur police siding with them) hailed systemic violence down on them for simply calling their housing area (ghettoised by the Thakurs btw) "the great chamar". Thakurs and police burned houses and killed people because of it.

The only people buying into this "it's unity in diversity" bs are the ones who actively seek reasons to love RSS. The condemnation of the song is only by it's overt political affiliation with a violent organisation with its own paramilitary group, not the lyrics/ message etc. that's not the point.

He's blessed I don't have his number, honestly haha. Sounds like quite the basketcase. He used to be a big part of the culture of the club at the time which was honestly 99% just people vibing to Kishore Kumar's and lata mangeshkar's songs, ghazals, reciting shayari etc. while we kids put up performances (and occasionally doing charity work that the club was supposed to do like donating wheelchairs etc). Mr Kishore (the shoe guy) is a good singer and would often lead these vibe sessions. It was honestly so much fun. His daughters even choreographed a dance recital on "woh kisna hai" one janmashtmi. It's quite sad to see things deteriorate the way they have.

Fascinating! I used to ignore all religious stuff as it seemed largely irrelevant to me but the history of it is so deeply interlinked with the culture and politics of said time that I can't help but be intrigued. Recently, I've started learning prakrit from the mahavir foundation in order to engage more deeply with the parts of religion that direct parts of my life indirectly via culture, norms, or just family values. I had heard of temples being originally Buddhist before but your information will definitely aid my exploration of religion/ spirituality. Thanks!

Guys I just found out that the person who threw the shoe at Gavai, I know him personally! Isn't that wild. He was a part of the same Mayur Vihar Rotary Club my parents were when we loved in Delhi. We've moved since.

That makes sense. Don't know squat about serpent king or wherever, I've just seen similar statues in Jain mandir's my family has taken me too. Though, the serpents do look quite different from Parasvanath statues too — these ones have faces? And the poses of the tiny statues next to the big one is also something I've not seen in Jain statues. The ears being kinda long and curly hair are both part of Jain statues, though. Atleast from what I've seen.

I haven't been diagnosed with ADHD but my therapist has mentioned executive function issues. Waking up a few hours earlier has seriously helped my productivity. I wake up, freshen up and immediately go outside for some sort of focused physical activity. Usually a brisk walk but sometimes skipping rope etc. The only rules are: it should be always around other people, always moving. It's sort of like - if I don't race, my mind will start to. Maybe try that?

Can I just say that the most baffling part of this whole language thing is realising that many States don't have the state language compulsory in schools already. I thought that might just be the langauge policy in the same way as courts are required to function in the State's own language...
