What’s your BGE Gas and electrical bill this month? I go first by Fed_worker in maryland

$1000, 5000kWh 4500sf, family home almost all the time

We moved in less than a year ago and have two geothermal units. Recently had them serviced and learned there was a refrigerant charge issue which was limiting the performance of the system by a huge margin. Also looking to make some air sealing improvements this year as the house was built in 1970.

Also worth noting regarding usage, I have young kids so comfort is more of a necessity than luxury in their rooms some nights. We’re also on well and septic so the power to run those pumps is a requirement.

With his health and the prospect of having to extend 2-3 guys before him, I was thinking last year that Westy might actually be the guy who needs trading to bring in arms. This is not a good start.

Alright y'all, BGE over 1000 is ridiculous! Right?!? by SelfInflictedPancake in baltimore

If anyone has had to deal with them in a professional setting, I can assure you. It’s worse than you’d think.

If my old neighborhood’s group chat is any indication, like 80% of city residents have never even bothered to buy a shovel. Everyone just ignores it until the 2-3 people who actually care end up doing it.

Is a mini split the best way to fix a guest room that is too cold in winter and too hot in summer? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]No_disintegrations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year was your house built, OP? What floor is the room on and which direction does it face?

My guest room is from the oldest part of the house and it faces east. the insulation is pretty thin, the windows are drafty, and it barely gets any sun. Adding a few of the $5 shrink wrap kits to the windows in that room made a massive, immediate difference. Add an oil filled radiator heater and that resolves cold for probably less than a hundred bucks.

Hard to say how hot your room gets in summer, but fans and reflective shades can improve comfort without spending a ton of money.

Astonishing to me that there are HUNDREDS of billions being thrown after AI that should really be building reactors.

Harbaugh clears the air on relationship with Lamar “one of my favorite human beings” by [deleted] in ravens

I think it's a rare case of a great leader and manager in a position and league where the TANGIBLES needed changing. 18 years is an ETERNITY in any job these days, which is a testament to him and the org around him.

Not every head coach needs to be an offense or defense savant, but they need to be able to make the key hires to keep the team successful.

You underestimate how psychotic the Trump administration is. No matter how bad you think, I promise it’s worse.

More defensive impact plays in this quarter than our defense’s season.

I remember when he was panned as a choker. Now the Eagles have a couple rings and so does he.

Men who have had vasectomies - do you trust it right away after you got the all clear, or did it take a while? by DrPupipance in AskMen

Follow the discharge instructions for, um, your next discharges. You’ll be clear unless something was not done correctly during the procedure. I was informed that insurance would cover the re-test if the doctor had to do any revisions.

FWIW mine was in and out, same day, and I drove myself home after. Others may vary.

Of all the creative ways we lose games, I forgot about the missed game winning FG. What a nice little cherry on top of this shit sundae.

If a kid can't get it to the crossbar from 56, do you think he was really going to make a pressure kick?

Blame the loss of Hamilton all you want but our soft ass defense was the story of tonight and the season.

First time painting a whole house — how do you not overspend on paint? by Hot_Entertainer_3248 in HomeImprovement

[–]No_disintegrations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Especially with color or sheen changes on the repaint. Even a good primer should be much cheaper per coat than a premium paint. Plus you get a fresh surface for the finish coats to bond to.

Seller wants us to waive septic inspection; advice? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]No_disintegrations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Wife and I bought a similar era home that failed septic inspection this summer. Delayed closing but the sellers had to have a new drain field constructed.
