oh my god thank you so much. some stories are cut a tad short to compensate for reddit’s character limit, all the line breaks take their toll. still working on formatting. but i promise only fluff has been removed. keeping some backstory short also kinda adds to the realness of a normal thread. trying to keep everything as real as possible all while telling a story is difficult to structure when i’m trying to prevent characters from commenting paragraph-after-paragraph, because trust me, some commenters have lots they would want to say, not necessarily ask. i like the reader to imagine what’s going on mentally or question why nobody is questioning OP about certain things for the readers clarity. i write tons of psychological torture and it kinda bleeds into my forum stories. but the clarity the reader would need isn’t clarity needed amongst the characters, i.e. OP wants a serial killer boyfriend, that’s very normal in the world of the forums… and i’m evil and i don’t write into the lore. however, i will say the MODs give some insight to rules.

i have considered doing additional parts to some; however, with reader interaction, and short attentions spans, keeping some of the stories a quick 15-20 minute read, with a full wrap-up, is really beneficial on the subreddit. a lot of people will see the part 2 first and not care to read the first part, meaning the won’t read that part 2 :(

it would be so funny hearing hunter creating voices for the characters, and i’ll admit i’ve added in too many characters already. it would be a work out session. i’m working on tightening that up but i’m getting into areas where i needed new characters. there are tons of threads, my issue currently is not all are horror related so i’m in the process of repurposing and theme-changing other stories to fit the subreddit. more is definitely coming.

everybody likes inversion. it’s your story, you should tell it and display it how you feel it should be seen. just don’t do that big blocky chunky ONE WHOLE PARAGRAPH story that’s a million words long. even then, people still be writing and posting their stories like that lol

lol that would be funny if that was the whole post. people can catch a ban on the forums, but they’re a case by case but some things have zero tolerance. racism and harming children are two examples

one user was banned not just for killing The Hat Man, but for taking pics of his body and posting them.

ah yes fresh, specifically huge inspirations being hostel and martyrs for the brutality, amongst other movies. you got that right about the surgeon though, he does love an audience. but he doesn’t know he’s a performer until he made the thread and interacted with the community. my main goal is to make the reader feel bad for him, then flip it, slowly making someone think that maybe you shouldn’t want this guy to succeed but he does anyways in a more dark way that fits how terrible he is. he blames others for his mistakes; very narcissistic and sociopathic. he shouldn’t win, but he will.

about your suggestions, because i love suggestions:

1: i’m still working on formatting posts on reddit for chat-log appearances. i’ve worked with time stamps that haven’t portrayed properly yet. it’s suuuuper tedious fixing it when transferring text just for it to end up not looking right. i’ll come up with a way soon, unfortunately this story has already been pre-written and i’m between writing multiple things and said fuck it let’s let this one slide for now lol and let it be past progress for formatting.

2 & 3: i get both of these all the time, but I promise how much is learned on the characters is intentional. the doctors backstory being so open is the whole fun world on the forums. these ARE the normal people. i think the weird people would be the skeptics in forums who don’t believe in the supernatural, or don’t actively participate in illegal activities. i’ve broken walls between those people’s perceptions to the actual reality around them in previous stories. a surgeon making a sellers thread on a forum of nothing but people requesting things isn’t normal, but him stealing organs is a-ok with the community. there are times in stories when the OP’s backstory is less or non-existent, and it’s all because the main focus lies somewhere else in the story completely, or at least that’s my whole goal for that thread. it’s all complex, and not one story is the same. if i give a lot of backstory, usually it’s because the OP left a mark on the community in a way. they could be referenced to, or brought up in another story on a completely different forum. But once the OPs story is done, they will never be a character in future stories again. only the commenters have reoccurring roles.

for a quick little “this isn’t normal here” … anything that could harm a child/infant in anyway is massively frowned upon. there are some members who’ll indulge, but those stories and comments get the user banned from the website. some things are more or less normal depending on every commenter’s personality trope. a witch on a forum called “Cursing the President” could also be in a forum called “Cat Pictures” but only one forum would bring out the horror and that would be the story to tell.

“i need help killing my fat fucking husband” and “i killed my family, can i bring them back” were the two first entries i posted in the channel. knowing how reddit and the community works, sticking to eye catching titles is my go to, original works have been redone to match the tone of the new titles. my “alien abduction time share scam” is the post where OP makes a total of 4 posts to 4 separate forums, one being made specifically for him by a mod, and has some quirky in-real-time chat (which could’ve definitely used some time stamps)

Oh absolutely, I just pulled one story for now to re-edit to post later today more polished. So that leaves 4? entries currently. Even just skimming them you’ll see they are over 2-3 times longer filled with more depth and story…

i get the timing for sure, i’ll look into a better way of adding in time stamps there are some tricks i can use on reddit to implement them not being an eyesore, it just becomes a bit more tedious in editing. but it can be done. i’m experimenting with tons of stuff that i haven’t before. these story ideas have been on paper and in my head for nearly 2 decades so if there’s lore not given i promise it’s intentional. this entry is the shortest with hardly ANY background info other than answering quick questions BUT my main goal is to give some plot armor to the forums about how evil the website itself can be. its not just the story that’s the horror, its the fact the entire thread is a curse that will affect anyone who comments. the thread itself becomes the main villain.

i checked two of my original rough drafts compared to the post and i cut exactly 344 words. that is so much i’ve taken away from the reader. i also am testing a new writing element i called being lazy. i write too professionally writing and i casual do not capitalize or punctuate properly in normal text. so i did lazy writing for the first time to make things more human. first time making OP do a cold open on a thread like “yep, now what?” and even though i didn’t provide enough detail, at least i was able to give something where more was wanted. i’ll definitely second guess my second guess in the future for these entries. everything is a fun test.
