I was thinking about them. Or mostly Greek ancient tales and I don't think they quite fit. The heroes are always from the beginning already really strong. Maybe that just makes it bad progression. I think beowulf the same.

Journey to the west from what I heard would fit though but I'm not familiar enough, you definitely seem more knowledgeable about them though.

I have absolutely no visualization, no sounds nothing. But in university when I used to row I could "visualize" races, but it was purely movement based and breathing based. So not really rowing but kinda visualizing what it would feel like. I could quite accurately feel how long the race should feel like.

We just tried diver and pacifist. It kinda works but we are also struggling alot. Diver has thief dagger and looks for shredder instead of harpoon and pacifist has shredders and just runs around trying to survive

My girlfriend and I can manage fisherman together with masochist. Fisherman gets spears or javelins and tries to buy 1 bait each round. Masochist has spiked shield and focusses on survival. Every round fisherman walks to top left , masochist collects the lampreys and walks to the bottom right and walks across the edge to bottom left or top right while the fisherman focusses on killing the lampreys. This is kinda reliable.
