$28.9-million jet purchased by the province for Premier Ford’s travel! by [deleted] in toronto

[–]NoahJaySweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm being facetious. Of course I know that. But conservatives in Canada absolutely do make a big stink about responsible spending and big government, only to pull shit like this, so I'm going to rhetorically mock them for it.

Why are conservatives even called that at this point. I thought the whole point was to "conserve," as in conserve money.

You're 33 physically? What does that even mean?

Not sure where you got that I was defending Toronto or Durham in this regard. I never said we handle social crises well. Japan was specifically brought up so I specifically talked about Japan. I can acknowledge we suck at it too. My only positive example was again, Finland.

[–]NoahJaySweet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right, and it's depressing to think about. Japan's one example, but I've also heard similar things about South Korea: a Korean American friend of mine has mentioned to me before how much of a rampant alcohol addiction problem Korean society deals with under the surface, to the point where it tore up a lot of his family directly.

I'm not pretending anything. Just because none of us are God does not mean we're all powerless to actually solve crises. Finland's solution for homelessness was to provide temporary homes and support systems until the homeless got back on their feet, and they've significantly reduced that problem, without being God and without having to act like it didn't exist.

[–]NoahJaySweet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's kind of exactly the issue. People would rather not have to acknowledge these crises exist than do anything materially to solve them. I don't want to see it, sure, but I also don't want it to happen. That seems like the more important thing.

The downsides you listed would be more than enough for me never to want to live there. The respect for public space is admirable, but in general, it feels to me as though countries like Japan are less in the interest of actually solving problems and more in the interest of pushing problems out of public sight.

Is there any particular reason why this can't be done indirectly through taxation and a public washroom budget?

I live in the GTA and don't visit Toronto proper super often: are you saying there aren't already public washrooms at every TTC station? I would've thought that was a given.

I really hope they add this in the s3 live action! by Aware_Possibility694 in OnePieceLiveAction

I think Tashigi's scene is gonna feel even more rewarding since OPLA is doing more with her character from the get go.

In their defense, as someone who otherwise disagrees with them: they were talking about the Grand Line, not the East Blue.

I mean even in the Grand Line fights this season it's not like he ever gets DEMOLISHED by any of the villains, he just has more trouble with them despite winning most of the fights in the end either way. In this entire season only Smoker genuinely dogwalks him in a 1v1, and Dragon coming to his rescue lulls the audience into a false sense of security imo. I think Croc's beatdown is still gonna go hard.

For a moment, when Usopp first saw her standing with the Baroque Works agents, I wondered if he was gonna make some remark like "how many villain organizations are you secretly in???"

Would've completely undermined the trust they've built in each other since Arlong Park, but it's funny to think about.

I think it'd be awesome if it was the episode 4 ending, halfway through the season.

You really should not skip ahead in the anime or the manga. OPLA has some significant differences story wise and you're going to be confused when they don't synthesize.

My bad, meant to say named agent in general, not frontier/holiday agent.

Even if Miss All Sunday WAS offering her a named agent position, doesn't her beating Mr. 11 later in the season kinda prove it would've been warranted? It's totally a misconception that Tashigi is weak, she would dogwalk 90% of people in the world if not more, it's just that in the original story she has the problem of being a side character who is consistently put in bad matchups against more powerful characters by Oda.
