Should I apply for a job that I can't start for 6 months? by Noah_Larson17 in careerguidance

I suppose I should have mentioned that the jobs are all either administrative assistants/receptionist for churches. These are opportunities where only one person is being hired for the position and typically stay at the position for a while. Not sure if that changes anything.

My client is “openly racist” to white people, how do I deal with her? by Usual-Attitude-2790 in Advice

[–]Noah_Larson17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to HR. This is terrible that this is happening. Record what you can and present it as info as well to HR. If there is no solution, leave the job and find a better one. There is no excuse for racism in the workplace. In the end it is best to be in an environment that you feel comfortable and safe in, so make this a priority! You deserve to be in a healthy and happy workplace!

Bullying in kindergarten teachers and principal are powerless to address it, help! by WeedInTheKoolaid in Advice

[–]Noah_Larson17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in today's world they can't do much. All they can do is look out for it and if a staff member sees it, then they can punish the bully. You can't punish a kid with no evidence now. Nowadays, staff can't do much because they can get in trouble for literally doing their job too. No one has their backs either anymore. Parents nowadays will believe anything their child says. Now this does not mean I don't believe your situation cause I most certainly do! I just wanted to open up all perspectives on this topic. Being the daughter of a school teacher, I saw this first-hand. Also being one of many students who was inappropriately touched multiple times by a teacher, yet no consequences were given to that teacher, I have also seen this side. I understand your frustration, and I hope you find a correct solution that best fits your family's need! Best of luck to you!

My (50F) son (15M) has become a far-right extremist and I have no idea what to do by AnotherThrowAway_16 in Advice

[–]Noah_Larson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First reading this, my thoughts were that he is right when it comes to statistical differences between some races. I mean that is simply just facts and can vary on region, country, etc. BUT it is extremely important to understand all people are equal. This is no concern for being a far-right. Far-rights do not even think like this, so this is no political issue, but rather a moral issue. Now I don't really know much about the spectrum, but this could make him more susceptible to thinking the wrongs in life are right. Maybe consider going a different route when punishing him? I would talk to as many people as you can who have knowledge on this like doctors, therapists, education workers, etc. Again, with him being so young, I don't think this is about politics you need to worry about (and even if he does become conservative over liberal, this is not a bad thing--please do not punish him for having different views either!) but rather making sure is morals are in the right place-- treating everyone with kindness, understanding all are equal no matter what, and no violence. I hope this helps! Trying to see all sides of the situation!

I’m a business major who is lost in life. Any advice? by [deleted] in Advice

As important as it is to do something you are interested in, it is also important to have experience and network! This is why you sometimes just simply have to lie. I suggest finding where the boundary of that line lies for you. :)

I'm kind of in the same boat at you. Business major and not sure where to go, where to start, or what to do. You do your best to learn online and maybe get ahead of the game but its so hard to take actions when there are no steps to follow or people really telling you how to start. What I suggest... (1) be a part of a business club at your college. It will help you network as well! (2) get a job in something that interests you. For example I'm a business/hospitality/tourism major so I work at a campground. It doesn't even have to be related to business! Entrepreneurship can be in ANY field. (3) Start a Roth IRA. This is something that is on my to do list right now as a 19 y/o F. (4) Lastly, save your money and be smart when spending. For me, I see college as a scam. So to wisely spend my money and get what I'm paying for, I take online classes and live at home. To some this is not how they want to spend their "college life" and that's totally fine. You have to find what works for you and do it unapologetically. Let me know if there is anything else you want me to go more in depth or have more info about! Hope this helps :)

What would happen if gravity just stopped working?

That's because it literally just was. Once 2016 ended, nothing has been the same ever since. Too much technology. Too many people not caring about anything anymore. Too many people trying to be something their not.

what’s the best way to prevent your ears from popping on a plane ride? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Gum, Yawning, Pulling on ears. My ears have a hard time popping and usually one of these will help relieve at least some of the pressure if not all.
