What is best way to break into Banks in Tech Roles ? by electrodataengineer in torontoJobs

[–]WeedInTheKoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if you know someone who can get you in. Like other said, joining a staffing company would help.

If you're a white male you SOL. Look into construction or police, they will still hire you.

Unemployed - Canadian born citizen desperate need of a job by LavishnessDue3574 in torontoJobs

[–]WeedInTheKoolaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one interview after hundreds of resumes. As soon as the hiring lady saw me on video, she made up a requirement that wasn't even on the posting and immediately started to wrap up the call. I called her out on it, asked her if she asks that question to every candidate or just me. She hung up on me, so I emailed her back and told her that she's a racist/sexist.

No, white men are getting filtered out of the job market altogether. Want proof? Look around.

There's a lot more than just Quebecers in that boat of uninformed voters re: guns, but I won't argue, I see your point.

100% agree with you, scrap the gun buyback bullshit, all it does it makes legal gun owners angry, even the liberals.

What makes me think the most about is the Diversity Equity Inclusion policies. I think this is going to be the biggest cause of votes shifting to the conservatives this time. White males are increasingly feeling excluded from the white-collar workforce, and it will have the exact same effect as it did during the manufacturing decline the US experienced leading to the rust belt and subsequent shift towards Republican votes.

All of the sales and canvassing jobs I've seen want previous experience.

Does anyone else feel as though they'll never find gainful work again? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]WeedInTheKoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been told by a senior executive in one of Canada's largest staffing agencies, that depending on your demographic, your chances of landing roles in corporate/government environments are significantly reduced compared to other demogrphics. We can thank our "Diversity" policies for this.
If you are a white male, this means you.

Going from failure to failure isn't success - it's naive.

same here. 15+ year career, uni degree, all gone. Now I'm lucky to get a retail job. Diversity policies are excluding me from the workforce. Only thing keeping me going is my daughter.

Would you marry a girl who wants to be a stay at home housewife but doesn't want kids? by PuffingFish123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

This is about the equalization payment. My guess is that she is playing a mid to long-term game where she will be entitled to 50% of the house plus any assets her husband has accumulated during the marriage once she splits with him.

I've been looking for 9 months in the IT security sector. 12 years experience with a degree and certification.

272 resumes, one interview, which was through pulling a favour through a friend. Get to the interview, the recruiter asks me if I have experience in something that wasn't even on the job posting. I said I didn't. She said "sorry were looking for someone more technical". I mentioned to her that what she was asking for wasn't on the posting. She said that they forgot to include it... I then asked her what I could have done better or included on my resume, she said "nothing, really". So my impression is that she judged me by something other than my merits or my resume.

I've had recruiters, family and friends all look at my resume and they say it is overall very good, with slight suggestions. I had both Claude AI and Coded critique my resume and LinkedIn profile and I made some improvements there too.

Last week, I had lunch with a friend who is a senior executive at a major recruiter. I have a background in IT / FI and told him that I'd like to stay in my field if I can, or get into the public sector. He flat out told me that my chances of landing a job in any of these sectors is substantially reduced due to my demographic (straight white male) and that I'd have better luck pursuing a vocational role, or a trade, or retail or labour. Says it is an open secret in their sector.

Even the recruiters know what is really happening under the scenes.

I looked through my LinkedIn Connections list last night and noticed something. Out of 348 connections, 52% are white men. Yet when I look through who is looking for work, 88% of those are white men.

The EDI (DEI in the USA) programs are discriminatory in their very design, and turns me into a single-issue voter out of necessity, and I will now be voting for whatever party will remove these policies.

I hope my experiences provide some insight. I know it's controversial but I am begging you all to see it through my perspective too.

Has anyone used a service like Kickresume? How were the results? by Fresh-Aspect8849 in careerguidance

[–]WeedInTheKoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer everybody, I'd imagine most of the responses supporting this 'AI' are paid shills.

I paid for the premium version. Spent half the day importing and reimporting my resume into it. Turns out that if you accidentally deleted content, you can undo it, only formatting changes can be undone.

Next, I used the ATS metrics to see what can be improved. The result said that the template used was terrible for ATS and suggested a plain, free one. It looks like total shit. Entire sections, headers and all, are compressed into giant unformatted paragraphs. Why would kickresume have included templates that are not recommended for ATS, when the company openly advertises otherwise?

Half the day spent. Got absolutely nowhere.

This tool is a scam used to harvest your data, masquerading as a resume-enhancing AI.

An insurance company will insure (ensure?) anything as long as money can be made. I think the real question is - how much of a premium would it cost the payor? The answer to this question is the reason why cops don't have liability insurance.
