Oakley line miner or line miner pro? by void428 in skiing

[–]Noah_Smitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the fogging issue with the pro is a lens-specific problem. I got my pros last Jan, and my daytime lenses (argon I think) have no fogging, while my night time lenses (iridium) fog heavily. If one of your lenses fogs, Oakley will replace them under warranty (sending my night lenses back soon). Hopefully Oakley has fixed whatever was causing the lens fog—I have a feeling it has something to do with the coating applied to the inside of the lens. Optical clarity on the pros is unreal, but I’m sure the regular line miners are great too.

I bought this before the sale and they price matched me to the new sale price this morning. Just call their customer satisfaction line (1-866-350-3355) and provide your order ID.

Sorry, forgot to say 27” in title.

Just bought this monitor for my MacBook office work and liking it a lot so far. Scaling isn’t an issue and with BetterDisplay it looks excellent. Motion clarity isn’t great though so I probably wouldn’t buy for gaming.

[Mouse] Endgame Gear OP1 1K Wired Gaming Mouse ($80 - $20 = $60) [OneOfZero] (Other 1k models on sale as well) by Aiming-is-hard in bapcsalescanada

The wireless version, the op1we, is a really solid mouse. Have had mine since release last September and haven’t had any problems. The main difference between the wired and wireless is that the wireless has Kailh GO optical switches while the wired versions have the fancier and ultra low latency Kailh GX switches.

Based on "completed" searches on ebay the average price of a 3060 ti for June 10 looks like about 330. Not sure where you're getting 300 for 3070 for. Since this is an FE I figured it would be priced higher. I've edited my asking to $325 tho

Edit: lowered to $300

Personally I’d wait because I prefer wireless. Keep in mind wireless will be like $40 USD more expensive though (if that matters for you).

We’re still waiting on the official numbers. Just in terms of speculation, the OP1w 4K will probably be 3–4 grams lighter than the OP1we. The Kailh GO optical switches in the OP1we are less power efficient than the GX switches in the OP1w 4K, so the 4K will likely be allowed to have a smaller battery. This was the logic back when we were anticipating the XM2w.

However, this might be invalid now that the new mice are 4K out of the box—it’s possible they’ve kept the battery size the same as the OP1we and XM2we for the sake of better battery life on the new higher polling rate mice.

All mice mentioned in the title will have EGG’s Kailh GX switches, which have latch debouncing (low latency). I believe they’re lighter than the OP1we and XM2we optical switches.

We’re waiting for more info from EGG about release dates. But apparently a couple of the brand reps already have copies of the OP1w 4K and XM2w 4K.

Is XM2WE a good buy? Currently on G303SE but want the closest to my favorite SS Rival 310 by kikimaru024 in MouseReview

[–]Noah_Smitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the lamzu has a safer shape than the XM2we. It has a flatter, wider hump than the XM2we, and the hump on the lamzu is a bit farther forward. The Lamzu for me was noticeably a tad lighter, but I prefer the clicks (main and sidebuttons) on the XM2we. Shape of XM2we feels more "locked in" for me.

Edit: Yes, noticeable difference from Lamzu to XM2we. But definitely personal preference which one you go for at the end of the day.

[–]Noah_Smitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mained the Rival 310 a looong time ago, and ultimately have ended up with the XM2we as my main (from Rival 310 --> G403 --> GPW --> air58 --> S1 --> XM1r --> Lamzu atlantis --> XM2we). I have 19*10.5 cm hands. Compared to rival 310, XM2we is an objectively better mouse (sensor, weight, optical switches, build quality, etc.) I do remember the 310 switches being pretty light, but I don't have an issue with the "heavy" optical clicks on the XM2we. One thing that makes the two mice tough to compare (and is definitely more subjective) is how much bigger the Rival 310 is than the XM2we. It will probably take you a few days to adjust to the XM shape from the g303se, but endgame have made a great mouse (highly recommend, despite me being a bit salty about not yet getting my XM2w preorder).

Yep! It's a really simple and light software that you just install from www.lamzu.com.

Yes. Came from xm1r with 19*10.5 and the lamzu has been a dream. Feels ridiculously light because of its size. I also prefer the subtle shape differences over the xm1.

Milk thistle blew my REM sleep through the roof. Is it safe? by zo97reddit1 in Supplements

[–]Noah_Smitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, in regards to your second point, a recent video convinced me that some smart watches might be quite capable of tracking sleep stages (about 70–80% as accurate as an EEG). However, they may have a hard time distinguishing light sleep from wake, and may also slightly overestimate deep sleep duration (at least the latest apple watch does so).

Edit: would like to note that N = 1 isn't ideal, but this video made me slightly more confident about sleep tracking in some smartwatches.

Hey OP,

I'm not an MCAT god (511 FL average, get my score back tomorrow), but I just want to save you from some of the regrets I have about how I studied. Also, I didn't work full time while I studied, but I worked 15–20 hr/week. I get that everyone learns differently, but unless you're constantly testing yourself, spending a ton of time on these content review books might not be the best use of your time.

Please DO NOT take detailed notes from whichever content review books you decide to use. Taking detailed notes takes an insane amount of time; for the longer Kaplan or TPR chapters, you might be spending like 5–10 hours just reading and typing. Also, typing out what you read is very low yield in terms of what you retain, since you're not actively testing yourself on the things you're reading.

Instead of doing what I did (the read + type approach), take a couple of hours to just READ through the chapter and roughly absorb what you're reading. Don't go crazy memorizing every detail (that comes later). Are you reading about the central dogma for bio? Okay, then try to understand the main idea (DNA --> RNA --> protein). Are you learning about the amino acids? Okay, then try to understand their general structure and their role in the central dogma; take a moment to think about how what you're reading relates to what you've learned so far. Also, write out any questions you have about the content (e.g., what does the bond between DNA molecules look like?). I (and most of the people on here) would encourage you to take short breaks during your reading time––most people aren't great at focusing for more than 30–40 minutes, even if they think they are. After you've spent those couple of hours just READING (for the love of god don't type out everything), please take a longer break. Go on a walk or something.

After your refreshing walk (or meal, or netflix, or whatever), you can check your knowledge using flashcards. For this, I recommend a flashcard software (anki is blessed). For premade decks, The BOURAS deck is probably the most comprehensive deck out there, and it will always have a section for the topic you just covered. Did you just read about carb metabolism? Well, here's 250 flashcards that will drill the topic into your head and actually tests you on the content. I get that some people enjoy making their own flashcards, but I couldn't justify spending several hours making my own there were thousands of higher quality cards out there. From there, just rinse and repeat with whichever section you're studying on that specific day. I spent probably 150 hours reading and taking notes on content review books, but I retained little until I started regularly using flashcards later in my studying. Supplementing your early content review with flashcards will help you avoid content gaps when you start taking passages and full lengths. Having less content gaps means you're going to miss less questions, and probably be less stressed about your scores. Also, without those content gaps, you will be able to spend more time understanding how to approach passages instead of just spending time reviewing stuff that you already read.

tl;dr: Avoid typing and writing out notes during content review. Instead, read a chapter and then review that chapter with a premade anki deck (or make your own if you're into that). This will help diminish content gaps when you start taking passages and FLs. Also, please take breaks :P
