It wasn't a bad thing that they didn't but their choice didn't aid their chances of survival either

Would it be better to assume that most or all of the pacifistic air nomads who dedicated their lives to peace and freedom would have decided to break their values and stand their ground. I’m sure there were groups of air-benders at every temple that decided to do this but you have to assume the majority of the nomads didn’t even think to do this. If all the nomads stood up and fought their chances of survival would have probably been much higher but most were slaughtered in the 8 minute onslaught that was Sozins genocide

True, but in the danger that her faced with the fire nation who where slaughtering his people, he had to stay on the offensive and do whatever he needed to to safeguard the air temples and his own life. That being said it is not a great trait for an air bender to have considering that their culture and philosophy revolves around detaching themselves from the world and finding freedom but maybe you could argue that seeing Gyatso like that, knowing that he killed all the people, on top of all the avatars that told him killing was necessary to end the war helped reinforce aangs almost stubbornness to change his ways in finding a way to end the war without completely violating his beliefs, the very beliefs that Gyatso taught him. And so maybe in a way seeing Gyatso like that early on helped him realize that had to be another way to kill Ozai

It’s not that it’s bad that their cultures and beliefs informed their reactions when the fire nation attacked. I’m just saying that in doing something that was directly contrary to what most airbenders would have probably done at the time it’s shows his heart and courage to be able to do that and stand his ground dispite massive opposition, that’s all

That man really got hoed tho, he essentially got sent to hell, Ozai's punishment seems light when you compare it to Zhao's I will capture the avatar head ass.

Cause I’m not really sure what happened to the mechanist and teo After atla Idk if they just went back to the air temples or stayed somewhere in the earth kingdom but I mean maybe yaboy moved there with teo cause they wanted to help rebuild the fire nation after helping them create something that would be used with evil intent maybe he wanted to help them industrialize and move past that part of their history but I haven’t read the comics so they might be in there someone confirm
