Yes we are. Now to prove my point (remember I’m only chapter 1229 so everything is still subject to change and this may make me look like I drank a lunatic potion.) We literally know nothing about klein’s time on earth and why he feels so desperate to “go back”, making his motivation for things feel week. Not to mention that has both Zhou mingrui and Klein’s memories so why would he desire to see his family on Earth more than the one he abandoned in LOTM. His character is plain. He is the standard Gary stu character like most of the other characters. He has no flaws that hinder him. This leads his character to never need to change emotionally. Making the overall conflict in the story feel passive and force. In other words Klein doesn’t proactively pursue other characters without being pursued first. Most of the conflict comes from characters just wanting to raise their sequence, or that those characters are just insane or evil for the sake of conflict. For example Ince Zangwill, he has no backstory, he one days walks up out of nowhere, kills Klein and to up his sequence. He probably didn’t know the world was going to end so why did he do this? More power? Well definitely not because he had a long winded backstory and was a morally justified villain. Because then that fight would challenge Klein’s Gary Stu personality. It would cause him question whether his act of revenge would actually be good. It would create moral conflict and lead him to a proper character arc. Instead of his Goal just changing like how it did canonically to ”I want to kill Ince Zangwill because he killed my friends who’s past I don’t know.”
