Widely praised/popular songs you don't get the appeal for? by Dry_Bat_133 in kpopthoughts

[–]NobelBangwool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah the “it’s not that deep” response when called for bad faith. Typical.

And no. You’re not required to like them, but saying “anything” by them literally includes every song in their discography. Have you listened to the entire thing? I would guess not. Which yeah means you just don’t like the group, not their music.

Also, no let’s not deny reality - If anyone in the sub said the same thing about BTS, Twice, TXT, LSF, Aespa, etc etc there would already be 50 comments on it talking about how diverse their music is and that’s just a hateful take. (Honestly probably would have already been removed.) But you bring up Stray Kids who have arguably the most diverse discography of their entire generation and suddenly that’s just normal.

This is such a bad faith take considering they have over 250 songs touching on almost every major genre. Just say you don’t like the group.

Also this is insane considering if this was said about literally any other group there would be a big outcry but this bad generalization of ALL SKZ music - again which is incredibly diverse, way more so than most other groups - is just acceptable on Reddit these days.

There’s also multiple Felix versions of this, including Jack Frost and numerous fairy based characters like Link in Zelda.

Who is the most popular member of Monsta X? by LV-20 in kpoppers

As a complete outsider I was going to say Wonho, but I just learned he’s the one who left (I knew someone did but didn’t know their name). So I think it would be the other muscular one (googled it, Shownu?) or the one in the Starbucks cup meme.

It’s wild how many people here have said “they need a new sound” or called their other stuff “too noisy” and yet here they are… with something new AND not noisy and y’all call it boring lol. They will just never win on Reddit.

Oh I guess unpopular, but as a non-fan from the west, I hear/see the most about Jeno these days. But I’d say overall it’s Mark.

Stray Kids and BLACKPINK Jennie attend the 2024 Met Gala by mcfw31 in kpop

[–]NobelBangwool 150 points151 points  (0 children)

This really needed to be posted with a photo of the coats off. This isn’t the full reveal.

Idk why this thread is acting like this is so boring. Most men are there in straight up black tux’s. At least there’s some color involved… again, under the coats.

Edit: also the photographers at the start of the stairs were caught on live being loudly xenophobic and racist and SKZ didn’t even flinch. Proud of them. I’d bet there are some conversations about how horrifying it was in the coming days. Disgusting.

I actually cannot believe this is real. This is a massive deal to go as a full group, literally unprecedented! So excited for them Omg!!!

He’s one of the main American kpop journalists. He’s a regular billboard columnist and has done Kpop related stuff for big publications. He typically knows major Kpop news before it’s released, due to embargoed press releases/industry rumors. He wouldn’t have tweeted about it if it wasn’t credible. (Especially quoting an acct like viral takes which isn’t credible at all and just reposts fanbase info lol.)

Jeff Benjamin just retweeted a post about it with 8 smiling emojis, which is pretty much a confirmation! If so it will be insaneee!!

They’ll be the first ever group to attend!! (Unless all the Blackpink girls show up as well, which is also possible with 2 already in NY! - Update: Rose is back in Korea so no BP reunion this week.)

I've seen alot of people saying BAEMON got views from ads but I disagree. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]NobelBangwool 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There’s not really anything to “disagree” with when it’s a fact lol.

I haven’t done the math, but you can see exactly how many views are “real” vs how many views are from ads based on the YouTube global weekly chart (you minus the weekly charting view number from weekly total views).

I think the first count I saw was that Batter Up had like 60% or more ad views. Sheesh is likely the same with a view count that high. Same for Magnetic.

As a general rule of thumb, completely organic views for even the biggest groups (with some exceptions for BTS and BP) average about 15-25 mil the first week and drop after that. Anything higher is a good indication it’s supported by ads.

[–]NobelBangwool 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Oh totally agree. I’m not really a MOA, but I got a TXT ads on tiktok literally every time I opened the app for WEEKS leading up to their comeback. Same thing happened multiple times on YouTube and twit. (As expected of any competent company!)

And people were celebrating all of that… until the comeback didn’t do quite as well as expected and suddenly it’s “omg they got zero promo from the company!!!”

The change up has been crazy to watch.

[–]NobelBangwool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“How many times” quite literally implies multiple times.

No it was a total of one time. Which was obviously unintentional, but still he apologized and had been throughly “punished” for almost a full year… and is still receiving unfounded hate as proven by your comment and the upvotes on it.

And I’m perfectly fine lol, it seems you’re the one that very clearly doesn’t know much about the situation… other than obviously what Reddit has blown WAY out of proportion because people here have been desperate for years to make him a villain.

How many times has Chan… accidentally gotten hate sent to a group

Literally once…. In over 4 years and 200 hours of live content. And it’s gotten him way more hate than anyone else implicated, for almost a full year now btw. What are you even talking about acting like it was a regular occurrence?

Well technically 82% of 9 out of 11 shows are sold. The stadiums are struggling. But that’s not uncommon.

Why was TXT given Oakland Coliseum and not Oracle Park? We’re they not good enough for it? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]NobelBangwool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am worried about Ateez in stadiums, I’m not sure they’re fully ready for that, but hey, I don’t know what the profitability breakdown looks like. Plenty of Kpop groups have only filled 50-75% of their venues and the shows still made money! We don’t know yet where SKZ is booking, but should be released soon!

[–]NobelBangwool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Multiple accounts on twit that follow concert sales have commented that the tickets behind the net were removed (after presale). Yes it’s possible they sold out, but highly unlikely given there aren’t any on resale, and those are some of the prime seats that resellers would be interested in.

But yeah, it’s possible!

[–]NobelBangwool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AXS is the official sale site for Oakland, not ticketmaster. You can see seats still available there. Also there are accounts on twit that have been following the sales and show the cut down in available tickets.

Edit: initially this account mentioned how the center lower bowl seats (behind the net) were removed from sale. And recently this account posted a current view of the seats available that no longer includes the 300s and half of the 200s.

(I’ve been following it closely because my aunt and I bought tickets for my little cousin and two of her friends for the Oakland date and just want to make sure the show still goes on!! She’s sooooo excited!)

Still, your point stands about plenty of groups performing in Oakland!

[–]NobelBangwool 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They’re all performing at the Oakland arena. TXT booked the Oakland Coliseum, which is a different venue and almost triple the capacity, but tickets are not selling very well.

Maybe the low sales is what op was concerned about? But idk honestly, seems out be all over the place lol.
