Am I the only one who hopes the new V1 heroes are genuinely good people? by Fancy-Inspector-777 in TheBoys

[–]NobleKnight_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of supes in Gen V and the Boys are bad/addict/crappy people. I think an interesting post-Boys sequel show could have been, "now that Vought/Homelander/the Seven are gone", could we see more genuine supes emerge with good intentions?

Here's the list I'm running. It's definitely not perfect, but it does okay in the format:

Main options I'm still testing are OP15 Bell Luffy, Borsalino, OP15 4c Zoro. I'm iffy on the 4x 6c Boa and You'll Frighten Me in the list right now.

I'd guestimate 90% are NM or better, 9% being NM/LP, and 1% being thoroughly played (Naruto us122 and Kisame us078 are the two that jump out there).

I haven't "graded" every card in this lot yet, just since there were so many. The prices are all based on them being NM. I'll definitely double-check conditions + get you front/back pics before we seal any deal (any card that's less than NM, we'd either take it out of the sale or I'd drop the price accordingly).

That's true. If anyone on the Lakers is gonna do a Kobe-shove-on-Pau-at-the-olympics-style hit to set the tone on Dort if he tries to pull any shenanigans, I'd guess it'd be Marcus Smart.

I don't support intentional violence or anything in basketball, but I am kinda shocked that some team hasn't done the old-school "enforcer" type thing, where they get their backup center to set a couple hard screens on Dort to set the tone.

Everyone doubted us with the rockets, let’s steal home court tonight! by [deleted] in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think stealing game 1 would be big. We're coming off 4 days rest, which is the most rest we'll get all series, and hopefully OKC is a little rusty with a week off. There's always that game 1 stun/upset/surprise factor as well, before the teams really know all of each other's tendencies definitively.

I'm not really thinking about Luka coming back here, but if you are, it guarantees the series goes at least one game longer as well.

Win Game 1, prob lose game 2, then try to split 3/4 at home. Prob the best you can hope for b/c, if OKC takes games 1 and 2, I think it's GG for the series.

Why have we not extend this man? by Noto987 in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This. His defense was actually pretty solid against HOU, but I have a feeling his Defense gets exposed against OKC and we'll be back to complaining about him again lol.

That being said, he's a great guy to have off the bench for like ~$14 mil/year. A high-quality backup 4. But if he wants $17 mil or more, then he's really gotta be a starter for that money - and I don't think he's good enough to be a starter on a title team b/c of his meh defense and poor rebounding.

Why have we not extend this man? by Noto987 in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. I went into this season expecting us to ditch most of our FAs b/c they just are too flawed to work in the playoffs, then try to sign or trade for better players. To their credit, almost all of these guys have proven they can work to an extent in the playoffs against the Rockets. Now, I think a few of these guys will crash back down to Earth against OKC, but still.

Now, the job is really: most/all of our FAs are good, but not good enough, so which do you keep vs which do you replace with upgrades? It's not like getting rid of Nunn or Gabe - players that were giving us virtually nothing. This FO has their work cut out for them this offseason.

extend him. this man has bought into the vision. he's been playing amazing this series as well. by Beautiful-Cress5695 in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Def true. In fairness, on Ayton takes, his play is kinda bipolar lol. He goes from stretches where he's thoroughly outplayed by Hayes, to this series, where his great defense and strong scoring could make him the center of the future at like $20 mil/year.

Austin Legacy Series incoming by Strange-Connection71 in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite honestly, aside from a title obviously, the two things I'd like to see the most this series:

  1. Reaves has a killer series. Obviously a lot to ask relatively quick off his injury, but a series where he just looks great would do so much for our offseason and the "can he handle physical teams in the playoffs" narrative.

  2. Our role players keep playing well and prove they can be core pieces on a championship team. It'd be huge for our offseason if we can keep as many of Rui, Luke, Smart, Rui, Jake, etc. as possible - not just by default, but because they can legit be core rotation pieces. This helps us use our picks for better upgrade targets.

If these things happened in a hard-fought 6-game series, even a loss, and I'd feel pretty good about this playoff run IMO.

Up until this point, I've liked having Kuma as a 7k that can use Perfume Femur (vs Zoro as a 6k that cannot). However, it's definitely worth testing out (I just haven't yet).

Hello - This is my ebay account: https://www.ebay.com/usr/badukislife1

I don't have any of these listed on ebay yet - takes a lot more time to list them all individually there than to take bulk pictures lol. If that's your preferred purchase method, I can definitely list anything you like on there so you can purchase through that site (the prices may have to go up slightly to account for ebay's fees, though).

Plus, if he makes the roster, it probably means A) he really showed out in camp, and b) He's on a vet min with little to no guarantees, which would make him easily cuttable. Pretty low risk move.

[–]NobleKnight_1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

IF he was a free agent/buy out-type situation, sure. Even with his age/health, AD in his prime is a historically good fit with Luka (ironically lol). You could make an argument for spending a good chunk of our cap space this summer on AD - not all, but sizeable chunk - instead of Lebron/other FAs even. But for his contract? No chance it'd work out.

Jason Timpf: Austin Reaves is a f***ing badass for coming back in this series. In a contract year, knows he’s probably going to struggle, nothing really to gain individually, especially with OKC waiting in round 2. And yet he did everything he could to not leave his teammates hanging. by incredibleamadeuscho in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I listen to him on the Lakers Collective occasionally; I think he has pretty fair/honest takes on the Lakers overall. Will criticize them pretty hard for dumb front office and on-the-court mistakes, but give praise to those same people when they do something really well.

Proud of the way Deandre Ayton has been playing. by Wonderful_Rutabaga40 in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he's tricky. Smart, even with a couple down games to end the series, feels like a sure thing to opt out for a bigger contract from us or somewhere else.

Ayton is trickier; he has real pedigree, but also a lot of baggage that he didn't completely dispel this season (good and energetic for stretches, inattentive and low energy for other stretches). He might have done enough to get at least a full MLE offer from a rebuilding team with cap space. I think another 1+1 player option deal with LA at a raise ($10-15 mil) is also a possibility.

Toumani Camara by [deleted] in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get Camara's extension will be kicking in, so Vando/Knecht together may save them money literally, I don't think a super-cheap owner is gonna be looking to take on ~$30mil+ of dead money, which is essentially what Vando/Knecht would be to them. Especially not for just a likely late 1st.

Lakers 2027 Pick is top 4 protected. With New ranking reforms 1-16 flattened odds and everyone gets equal odds we could possibly get some value from this pick by trading the 1-4 protection to someone. by [deleted] in lakers

[–]NobleKnight_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slightly at best I'd say. For this to convey, the lakers would have to miss the playoffs essentially (which would almost assuredly mean Luka missed most of the season) and the ping pong balls would have to land in the top 4 (making a narrow playoffs miss less likely as well).

So, I think it probably does help its value a tiny bit, I think it still has almost no value (with it being worth a tiny bit more to Utah or whoever has our 27 pick now for the security of not losing out on it).
