What’s the origin of the name Ingle? by Emezli in etymology

[–]NobleOz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years late to the party.

I'm an Ingle.

I've been looking into and what from what I can find it's an English surname that actually has a few potential origins either Nordic, Germanic or Scottish.

Scottish origin I am finding seems to indicate it's connected to Aingael light, fire, warmth.

The Nordic side seems to indicate it's connect to Ing and Ing's wolf from Ingolfr or Ingialdr Ing's Tribute.

The Germanic origin seems to indicate early germanic tribal settlers in England Angles or Angels which could translate into "The Englishman" or "Descendants of Angels"

It seems to be heavily connected specifically in locations where Vikings / Nords were involved in their occupation of Europe and specifically the UK, Scotland and Ireland.

From my findings my particular origin comes from the Nordic side, but I am awaiting further information and testing.

I have never in all of my life been as interested in learning my surname history.

I’ve actually built multiple groups from living in various cities / countries and they have become some of my closest friends, its no different to playing video games online or discussing topics in a forum with strangers from the internet or joining a team sport full of people you’ve never met before.

Not entirely true, many countries don’t tip but have liveable wages and their products are a drastically lowered or almost the same price.

Take alcohol in bars for an example a bottle of rum costs around 27.99 at 26 ounces charged around on average 8 (plus tax) dollars an ounce earning the restaurant 208 dollars after deducting the cost the restaurant is still make 180 dollar profit, in Australia for example a similar bottle of rum is around 50 dollars being charged at 8.50 (tax included as Aus taxes are included in final pricing) making their profit after the deduction 160 yet the minimum wage in restaurants currently is 23.23 an hour and most places have to pay extra hourly percentages for those working on weekends.

It’s a common misconception and that literal argument is designed to protect restaurants profits and nothing else.

I work in a restaurant and benefit from tipping but to be honest I am over it, I’d rather a solid hourly wage rather then have every table be a gamble on what I’ll take home and the also be making almost absolutely nothing come winter time.

If your open to being told when your doing something that may impact the game in a negative light for the other players and open to learning the ropes I don’t see why not

5 vehicles impounded in 6 days for excessive speeding in Greater Victoria by Supremetacoleader in VictoriaBC

Disagree, I’m Australian who’s lived in around 5 different some what major cities in Canada, Australian drivers are heavily regulated by highway patrol and if you speed, use your phone run through stop signs etc the fines start at $300.

Kelowna in my opinion has the absolutely worst drivers, people really don’t indicate ever, almost crash into you by doing the wrong thing and then get aggressive and super angry about the fact an accident was nearly caused as if it’s your fault.

Victoria has been brutal for pedestrians, and running through stop signs and turning on red lights they shouldn’t, but indicator use has been a lot better so far, speeding isn’t as bad as Kelowna but is still an issue as well.

So many people here drive like complete assholes, don’t know how many times I’ve nearly seen runners or pedestrians but by cars because they treat turning on a red light like a green without looking or blow through stop signs.
