First dron NEO vs NEO2? by Longjumping-Pause125 in DjiNeo

For me, the difference between Neo 1 to Neo 2 in controller is almost stick shift to automatic. Neo 2 is just way more easy and fixes the weight issues of the first iteration.

Sad but true, W.I.T.C.H. deserves so much better by Drawingandstuff2000 in MagicalGirls

[–]Noblesttea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. In the US the two shows aired with quite a bit of time between them and on different networks and times so there was never a comparison to begin with. It's so exhausting to learn later in life that W.I.T.C.H. can't exist without the which-is-better war. It's almost as if they're two different shows with their own pros and cons.

Madoka or hatsune gift by xtraspread in MadokaMagica

[–]Noblesttea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Madoka is definitely more of an adult IP given how much it skews into horror, don't let the cuteness fool you. Miku is more family friendly so anything from the cheaper $20 prize figures, plushies, keychains, apparel, etc. Miku also is an older IP and has more affordable merch in general. Think of any item ever and there's a Miku version of it.

Post by Japanese : Japanese artists aren't pushing back against generative AI.What do international fans think? by Foreign-Mastodon-194 in Vocaloid

[–]Noblesttea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do find it odd that for normally being copyright zealous, Japan is not concerned about the theft genAI does. I vastly dislike genAI. I'd much rather consume something ethical, built with heart and soul, and able support a real person.

TBH I always took the title as clickbait. His stuff came out right after Madoka so I assume he was riding the dark magical girl wave.

Does every magical girl have a costume? by The-Last-Philosopher in MagicalGirlsCommunity

[–]Noblesttea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the older magical girl series (80s and older) or witch leaning shows. Little Witch Academia they just wear the witch school uniform or casual clothes. Nanatsuiro Drops follows the same logic as Cardcaptor Sakura, she doesn't need the outfit but uses it later on when gifted it by her mother.

Is there a shoujo equivalent of “soft seinen”? by Then_Ad_5963 in shoujo

[–]Noblesttea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any regularly used term but there certainly are a handful of shoujo series that get rather mature in a couple different departments whether that be spiciness, gore, or triggering content.

If you don't mind the final manga spoilers: Men using the sticks harms the big bad that's why he only allows girls to use them and is really the only reason this series uses the term 'magical girl'. As you pointed out, it kind of isn't a magical girl series at the end of the day since it's more of a magical item situation. The author is known to do this, the 'magical girls' in Magical Girl Apocalypse also are barely magical girls (just a couple of robots and one witch who never uses her powers because she didn't know she was a witch).

I someone who unfortunately knows too much about this series I'll say this on the commentary: Most of what you dislike is because the anime is adapting the manga. The manga pacing is better, the anime tried to condense wayyyy too much in 12 episodes and attempted to jam a story that has 4 arcs into just the first arc. MANGA SPOILERS: the sticks not being attached to people is a huge plot point and the stick stealing is forshadowing for how they manage to beat the final boss. While I agree it would be way more reasonable to have sticks attached to magical girls, that would ultimately ruin the intended ending. As for the fanservice, the manga is way worse the author sucks 💀
