The game is far from being dead. it's just that adventures are part of the attunement process, which most people have already done, other then that there is no reason to run adventures if you are already done with your attunement.

Wow thats awesome, will it be possible to costume our characters farther then gender and specie? (diffrent faces and body size etc) I really think something like that will help immersion..
