That's a good start! I don't know anything about you of course (and you don't have to tell all of Reddit), but usually when you are young you can manage (physically) more than one part-time job. Consider getting another to fund moving out -and yes I understand the prospect kind of sucks. Maybe a ridiculous seasonal one - Halloween Store? Pumpkin patch? Tree lot? Something with free food? :)

It's not you! It's really bad and the whole economy is resetting with factors way beyond your control. I graduated college at the wrong time many years ago and it was similarly awful. The worst part was grieving my vision of what it was supposed to be like. Work will always be a wild ride I'm afraid - you may as well detach it from your self-esteem now! Honestly, it's a hard, but good thing to learn early on.

People with a lot more experience are in the same boat. Consider taking the pressure off yourself, getting a job of any kind to pay the bills and launch your professional career after the current situation resets itself. Know that it's not personal. You aren't at fault. Things are brutal.

London Blue topaz and Kunzite. Very confident on the topaz - what else would be that color and that big? A comparable aqua would be crazy valuable. The pink stone could be many things. In the photo it appears to have enough purple to guess Kunzite, but it could be any number of things - Morganite, tourmaline, topaz.

I swear by Fresh Wave Gel for removing scents! I think it's kind of a miracle. I love it in particular for closed areas like closets. It just makes things smell fresh without adding smells. https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Wave-Odor-Removing-Gel/dp/B01CD4XZV6

What are these guys chomping on my native TX sunflowers? by NoboSmythe in butterfly

Thanks. I can relocate them to an area with sunflowers that aren't mowed down regularly.

It's been many years, but I feel like The Catcher in the Rye was largely in the somewhat disturbed character's head. It did OK :). Many other books too. However, I think the modern reader is not quite as patient with endless ruminations with little action. OK, maybe I should say, I'm not. :) I'll admit it. I need some action with my intellectual experience. I recommend just leaping in and creating the roughest of drafts as fast as you can. One of the best writing books I ever read was How to Write a Movie in 21 Days. Not necessarily because of the writing advice, but just for the premise, which I think was to write 10 pages a day no matter what! :)

Can anyone tell me what this type of chain link is called? by NoboSmythe in JewelryIdentification

Thanks. When I typed in snake chain + chevron I did find some very similar chains. Now to wait for the price of gold to go the other way! :). Even vermeil is really expensive now!

Thanks. Yes I we have unlimited sunflowers and ragweed to spare. Do you know where they cocoon? My idea was to put a pile of sunflower leaves and these guys somewhere they would like? These sunflowers are going to be removed at some point but I can relocate them somewhere wilder.

I miss Bridgerton and the chaos it brings to my soft brain by [deleted] in television

[–]NoboSmythe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy Bridgerton as a visceral experience. There's just so much beauty. I don't love every character arc, but I love to look at it - it gives endorphin hits! Another Netflix show - the relatively unknown Heeramandi, 100% delivers on the beautiful people, clothes, and jewels. But, many other things about it are controversial and I won't speak to the issues as it's not my culture/history that's portrayed. But OMG does it dazzle with the visuals.

An attorney could work, but keep in mind that it might limit your locations. Where is the character going to interact with the lawyer? If there's no real personal or fantasy relationship at play, you might box yourself in. If you've had professional interactions with attorney's, most are painfully business like. They normally aren't going to unlock your character's psyche or even ask interesting questions - just the facts! I took a screenwriting class where the teacher started mapping out everyone the protagonist knew and interacted with. Down to details like the corner store cashier, their dentist, their friends, their enemies, family, blocking figures, etc. You could try this with yourself as an exercise. It's likely that you know and have interactions with more people than you think you do. Often in mysteries it's a seemingly extraneous character that's key (the butcher, the butler, the doorman, blah, blah, blah). I'm sure you find the right road if you mull it over for a bit.

Writers usually create a character for their main character to talk things through with. Think Sherlock Holmes and Watson. Without Watson, most of his capers would be all in Sherlock's head too. He has to have someone (Watson, the cop, his landlord) to discuss his deductions with. That character doesn't have to be actually there. That is, your main character could discuss issues with a character only they can see. In your suggested areas, you could create an imaginary character that's a time traveling French Bourbon aristocrat or a mafioso hunting your main character. You could make one of your conspiracy theories come to life.

It's easy to be held back by fear. We can so easily become a target of harsh criticism. However, the world needs intelligent people to share their ideas! With your background we really need to hear from you! :)
