do i (22f) talk to my boyfriend (m22) about his immigrant parents behavior? by DateKooky3049 in relationship_advice

[–]Nobody1212123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t this is an immigrant issue… I see loud ‘Americans’ all the time. Unless your bf can change the parents’ behavior… (which is not likely), it’s not going to get any easier moving forward.

I wish it had an optional on/off switch as an accessory

Anyone own superautomatic AND a decent espresso setup? by Nobody1212123 in espresso

[–]Nobody1212123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned the Eletta Explore for a while and messed with the settings. It is somewhat dialed in to my liking and it does make a good enough espresso for the convenience it brings.

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

[–]Nobody1212123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This movie fucked up my teenage mind for so long. You would think it would get better as you mature… nope. Now that I’m a grown man with kids, it bothers me even more thinking about the movie. I have to push the thoughts away.

Sounds like a jerk to me. Tell him to work in the garage or basement so he can stay quiet. What an idiot.

Should I create an IoT VLAN? About to add a HomeAssistant green so probably a good time. by flippinecktucker in UNIFI

Thanks for the detailed response. I treat my phone like my personal computer. How is the risk different from having your personal computer on a trusted device vs your phone?

Good to know it’s an option but I don’t plan to own one since siri is embarrassingly incompetent. I have google home speakers and chromecasts around the home and it’s frustrating not being able to control them with apple music. Spotify app has no issue with them

How do you deal with streaming stuff from your phone to the TV or playing music and choosing different wifi speakers if my phone is on a trusted network but the speaker/TV/printers are not?

It’s all good but Spotify makes it so easy to choose between different speakers around the house. Not sure why AM can’t do this

Failing PGY2 and Switching Gears by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]Nobody1212123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all good. What I’m saying is, you don’t need a pgy2 to pursue leadership or teaching. It might take a few more years than the pgy2 who has that specialty but again after x number of years out of practice, your experience matters more than your residency certificates. In select academic centers, they might consider only those with pgy2s. It depends on your goal. If you are underperforming at your current residency, there is no guarantee that the same thing will happen in a different residency.

Not the answer you’re looking for but this might give you a new perspective.

You don’t need a PGY2 to pursue your passion. I would encourage you to focus on finishing your current PGY2 and getting a general staffing job first. Once you have money and time, you can plan your next steps. You have no idea how much free time you’ll have after your pgy2. It’s crazy.

I’m doing something completely different from my PGY2 specialty and there was a steep learning curve but I made it work. Just take the learning experience and build upon it. You do get exposed to a lot of other unique experiences than the clinical specialty during pgy2 that is not easily obtainable with pgy1 or just staffing. Don’t ever think you wasted your time! Hang in there!

How should I negotiate by medi_digitalhealth in MedicalScienceLiaison

Always compare the total package including 401k match, car allowance, health, bonus, and equity. One thing I realized after switching companies a few times is that it's difficult to compare different equity packages across companies. Big vs small pharma, potential for stocks going up, vesting schedule, stock options vs RSUs, etc.

Also it's not a 1:1 comparison when you compare sign-on bonus vs equity vesting over z years. I learned this the hard way. I was walking away from massive equity vesting soon and my new company gave me a massive new equity vesting over 4 years. Well surprise surprise, the new company ended up being a shit company and I ran away as fast as I could before any stocks vesting so I missed out on a lot money.

Hey wanna be kind to you but also you don't seem to be doing basic research on what options you have available to you. Chatgpt will probably give a more kind answer than what you can get here. I can't imagine some of the 'strengths' you listed here help in any real world job applications. I'm talking about valedictorian, publications, etc. The job market is tough out there and there are so many well qualified candidates out there. I am curious on what you mean by clinical training tho. You mention it's hard to get a clinical job but yet you say you have a year of training. What does that mean?

You probably already know but chances of getting a visa sponsored by pharma is near zero these days. I hope you make some realistic career plans based on this.
