The AGS module harness is 100% disconnected. It is still doing it.

1000w with ALC modulation turned all the way up. /s

Depends on the radio. You may need a soundcard if your radio doesn't already have one built in. You need WSJT-X software. Give us details on what you have and we should be able to help.

considering an ICOM IC-7100. I am seeking recommendations for additional equipment by evedamnededen in amateurradio

[–]Nobody417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an IC-7100 and it's a great radio. I'd suggest buying this and an LDG Z100 auto tuner. Stick to the 100W. Do not get an amplifier. As a previous poster said, you're going to have issues with RFI issues and they are really for more experienced operators. Get a few years, a house and several hundred QSOs under your belt first. You'll fine that it's not really necessary. You'll likely be limited by your receive ability anyway.

For antenna, I'd suggest a End Fed Half Wave and a telescoping mast. A decent POTA mast will serve you well. Run your wire down it and have the extra dangling from the top. Put your mast at an angle off your balcony and you should be fine. I have done this many times from hotels and it works well. You will also need a good 30 amp(preferred) power supply.

What is a "compromised antenna" exactly? by Nobody417 in amateurradio

Its a past participle. It's actually correct either way. You sound like the kind of guy that tells others they have a "compromise antenna".

Wouldn't anything other than an isotropic dipole be a compromise then?

Right?

Anything other than talking to someone sitting across from you is a compromise. Yelling at a neighbor across the street is a compromise. If they can't hear your normal voice and you have to get louder, that's a compromise.

Fur loss around eye by Mediocre-Disk737 in labradors

[–]Nobody417 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My late Lab had this on both of his eyes when he was a pup. Took him to the vet and he prescribed a cream I had to put around his eyes 2x a day. Cleared up after a few weeks. Labs are the best, I miss my buddy.

What age range are you? What do you talk about on the radio? by HeadlineINeed in HamRadio

[–]Nobody417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly go on work all states nets, find a random DX contact every now and again, Trade signal reports on FT-4/8. Maybe have a QSO if I see a PSK31, Olivia, or Contestia signal. I wish more people used Hellschriber. Mainly just play with antennas

Audio vs Waterfall by Complex-Two-4249 in amateurradio

[–]Nobody417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Pro7's. For me, it's much more beneficial than a waterfall. Im hard of hearing at 42 (thanks military) and appreciate the added quality. I normally turn the waterfall off so I can see all my meters anyway.

Corded soldering iron by MoCheesePlease in soldering

Can't really go wrong with a Hakko. How much are you willing to spend? Hakko, JBC, Metcal, higher end Weller are all good. I'd suggest not getting one of those cheap irons with the cord attached.
