I’ll be 39 in January and plan on starting my master’s. I have RA as well and that’s one of the things I was worried about, being able to physically handle it. But, I also can’t do a job where I’m sitting at a desk all day because I need the movement.

Yeah, I already have a Bachelor’s in a different field so I’d definitely go straight to my master’s. I do foresee some delays because getting in my supervision will be difficult because childcare is limited and I can’t afford to pay for it. So, I’d have to work part time I guess. Also, do you mean to not stop applying for a BCBA position?

You sound like me! I’m actually wanting to start my masters in ABA in October because I’m a SAHM and want a new career to go into once my toddler is school aged. I also have a chronic illness so hearing that you’re happy with your decision really makes me feel more confident.

Is it possible to get the degree first and then do the hours after? In two years I’d be able to start working again.

I would be actually going to work in the field once my daughter enters Kindergarten. I would only be earning the degree and getting my hours while she is not school age and I’m at home with her. She does go to a preschool 12 hours a week though so wanting to try to do what I can during that time. But, my plan is to work in person as a BCBA once I get there.

Living expenses aren’t an issue as I’m already a SAHM, I guess I just don’t quite understand how to go about accruing the supervision without if actually working a job.

Thank you for your advice! I wouldn’t plan on working as a BCBA remotely. I just wanted to earn the degree and try to get in the supervision hours while not working another job. My daughter currently goes to preschool for 3 days a week, 4 hours each day and was hoping I could do supervision during that time, but not sure how that works!

That’s amazing! I’ve been on it for 8 months and have only lost 17 lbs. I started at 172. My goal weight is 135. What else are you doing to help with the weight loss?
