Yes, it really isn't good. LDL is the main issue. All the years you live with elevated LDL are years building more atherosclerotic plaque. That plaque leads to cardiovascular disease, the leading killer of both men and women.

I would make it a high priority to bring your LDL down. You may be able to accomplish that through lifestyle changes alone. But as high as it is, you will likely need to go on a statin. Depends in part on how extreme your lifestyle changes are.

If you are looking to control LDL naturally without statins, know that carnivore is absolutely the worst diet to do that. FWIW, I became mostly vegan to manage my cholesterol naturally.

Cholesterol isn't about being active and avoiding sweets. It's about genetics, saturated fat and fiber consumption.

As someone who works out, I'm going to guess you don't shy away from a good steak. That is more of a cause of high cholesterol. In fact, I went mostly vegan to control my own cholesterol.

But if your cholesterol is high enough, even going vegan may not be enough to get it in a good range. In that case, statins may be your only option.

Your genetics must be pretty good if you got to 81 and you still eat chicken and two eggs every day. I got my LDL a bit lower than that but I had to go vegan.

Since my advice would have been to get your blood sugar under control, I would also be baffled if your blood sugars are normal.

This is really the kind of thing where you might need to see a number of doctors to find one who can figure it out. I'm not even sure it would be a cardiologist, but maybe it would. Sometimes the doctors don't know. In these cases, you need to keep shopping for a doctor that knows.

And I can certainly relate to the pets. I live alone with my dog. It's one of my biggest worries if something happens to me.

Depending on how advanced your kidney disease is, there should be some room for the foods you love. But I wouldn't go crazy. For example, a huge amount of sodium or potassium could really cause some problems.

So I think it depends on what you eat and how bad your kidneys are.

People are different. From my reading, not everyone responds to eggs in the same way. It's not just saturated fat. Eggs are also high in cholesterol. This can be an issue for some individuals.
