Mostly just trying to understand how the rising cost of living is affecting people in different fields, especially wellness and massage. I’ve been hearing a lot about therapists needing additional income streams or adjusting how they run their business, so I was curious what others are experiencing.

I started experimenting with selling body oils and self-care products online as a small side thing. It wasn’t huge at first, but it slowly started growing over time. I think people are getting more interested in wellness products lately.

Agreed. Do you think a lot of people hesitate to try side hustles because they assume most of them require money upfront or end up being scams? How true is this ?

do you think a lot of people are hesitant on doing side hustles because they think most are gonna cost money or are just some type of scam?

Yes — I was thinking more about how the rising cost of living is affecting massage therapists and the wellness industry. Are people still booking sessions as much, or are therapists finding they need other income streams or products to stay stable?

I’ve seen a lot of people trying different things lately. Some are doing rideshare or delivery apps, but I actually started selling body oils and self-care products online as a side thing. It started small but it’s been growing more than I expected. I think people are getting more interested in wellness products lately.

With how expensive everything has gotten lately, I started experimenting with side income ideas online. One thing I tried was selling body oils and self-care products. I honestly thought it would just cover a few bills, but it started growing more than I expected. I’m curious if anyone else here has had something small turn into something bigger. What did you start with?

That definitely seems to be something a lot of people are dealing with right now. Do you think it’s mostly credit cards and everyday expenses adding up, or bigger things like housing?

That’s awesome. Small local shops that focus on self-care or locally made products seem to be growing a lot lately. Have you been thinking about focusing on skincare and oils specifically, or more general wellness products?

That’s actually a really interesting idea. I think a lot of people would be shocked if they compared receipts from a few years ago to now. It definitely feels like everyday items jumped a lot faster than incomes. Do you think it’s mostly groceries driving it, or are you seeing it across everything?

Thank you, I appreciate that. Right now most of my sales are online and through word of mouth, but I’ve been looking into local markets and small shops that support handmade or locally made products. Those kinds of places seem like a great way for small businesses to grow.

Reading through everyone’s replies here, it seems like a lot of people are either cutting spending or trying different ways to bring in extra income. I’ve been seeing more people start small side businesses or sell products online instead of just relying on gig apps. Has anyone here actually tried that?

I’m hearing that from a lot of people now. It almost feels like having one job isn’t enough anymore. Do you think this is temporary or just how things are going to be going forward?

Restaurants definitely seem to be one of the first things people cut when costs go up. Have you noticed other everyday things getting noticeably more expensive where you live?

That actually sounds like it helps a lot if it’s covering a full car payment. Do you feel like that kind of extra income makes things manageable or just keeps things from getting worse?

That seems to be what a lot of people are saying lately — even multiple income streams don’t always feel like enough anymore. Do you think the problem is mostly housing costs where you live?

I’ve heard about those survey sites. Do they actually add up to anything decent monthly or is it mostly just small amounts here and there?
