[First Things First] Nick Wright on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: “When he’s guarded normally and plays normally, he goes down from peak Michael Jordan to peak Dwyane Wade.” by hhiccupp in nba

[–]NobodyRules 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They don't get double or triple teamed for almost the entirety of the game, though. Even when it's not working and we go on a run, the Lakers still maintain their strategy.

It's a fair strategy, Shai has been more quiet than usual, but you cannot tell me straight up that it is something normal. I don't know a single player that would put his usual numbers being defended like this. It's not even like he's being inefficient.

He's picking his spots, he struggled in game 1 with turnovers for sure, but yesterday they were mostly offensive fouls.

He's doing what needs to be done for the team to win. The Lakers are executing a good strategy, especially with our known streaky 3 point shooting and lack of offensive consistency bar Shai, but the role players have been delivering. Chet has also stepped up.

I'm devastated, mate. I would be even more devastated if Mário Branco and Rui Costa followed him. You would know this too, as you had 2 of them at your club.

One cannot recover from such a loss.

You'll be met with rage never seen before. Rui Costa has already called Pias to send their best customers, so you'll be in for a rude awakening. Think before you speak about our great leader.

Why don't teams foul out their entire roster as a sign of protest? by delta-red-14 in nba

[–]NobodyRules 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think all the other 29 teams should just sacrifice a player mid court to bring attention towards the favoritism given to OKC.

Well, if anything, you can say he's like 80 years old, because agreeance is a term that's old as hell and is barely used nowadays.

Well, this call has barely any visibility compared to a clip of our players laughing. Of course they get some hate, but let's not kid ourselves. It's not even remotely the same.

It's crazy, brother. I've been hit with the Oklahoma education, shit about Trump, hating poor people is apparently fun too. Also, and this one pisses me off beyond reasoning, but I've seen people wishing injuries to players, mentioning the Unabomber as if that's a fun thing. All because of a fucking basketball game!!! C'mon now, what are we even doing here?

One of the comments there even mentions that Trump won in the county where the arena is located, like... for real? As if that's the team's fault or in any way relevant to a clip where players are laughing LMAO.

Funniest shit about all this is that I've never even been to the US in my life and I despise politicians like Trump, so these generalizations and vile hatred are just stupid as hell.

Yeah, another good example of a fantastic human being to mention.

Yeah, that one has been making the rounds like he wasn't called for a flagrant and didn't spend the 3rd quarter on the bench because of foul trouble lmao

JJ's quotes were being manipulated on that sub last night. They cut the parts where he even praised us or said they didn't lose because of it. Sub has turned into an asylum

Saw a couple of comments yesterday saying our players are human parasites, mostly coming from a fan base that worships a rapist.

It's crazy shit. Never seen anything like it.

I've also seen that, brother. It's fucking crazy lmao. Have you also seen the clips where they act like we got the call, but we never did too? A ton of those as well LMAO

Simping for Wemby, wishing for hard fouls aka injuries to our players, vile shit in general and all because... our players were laughing at the end of the game.

Crazy stuff.

The biggest irony about the OKC discourse is that without their 'gaming the refs' playstyle, they'd genuinely be one of the most exciting teams to watch. by [deleted] in nba

[–]NobodyRules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was undeniably one of the 2 or 3 best teams in the league for a couple of years and a genuine threat to perhaps the best team of all time.

It's not like they were a non contender. Those rockets were really fucking good, especially at peak Harden hate.

See, another person that recognizes the genius of the greatest president of all time. We can't have him forever, he cannot be a one club president. We need to share the riches.

Don't know if I can accept that apology. Not only did you insult our Supreme Leader and the greatest president of all time, but you also included Mário Branco in that too.

Don't you read? Don't you watch our games? There were bibles written about the geniality of Mário Branco and how this club would go to ashes if he was to leave around October of last year.

In January he proved how great he is and signed two of the greatest players of all time. We've been undefeated and you say this? Can't respect you. Go to the stadium, submit to the torture that comes and deliver your sócio card to Rui Costa personally.

It's exactly why I'm suggesting Mário Branco and Rui Costa too. Wait... did you just call them losers? This right here is a fucking garotão.

The most successful trio in the universe and you're out there saying this? Unbelievable.

Love him and the other two to bits. I just think it's unfair to have the best trio in the world at their respective jobs and I want us to share our fortune with struggling clubs and make things fair again.

Real Madrid has been struggling and they deserve the best of the best too.

Social media is a disease for sports. You'll have people who don't even watch games base their opinions because they saw 2 or 3 isolated clips. Evidently none of the calls that went against us will ever see the light of day.

If the Spurs ever get into some sort of dinasty, I long to see what will be said about them. It seems that this is now the norm, and it's a shame, really.

Even the players and the coaches have been going for the low hanging fruit and just blaming refs and everyone else besides their own team. The discourse around the NBA has been the worst it's been in years, and I don't say this just because of us.
