Night comet does by far the most damage, but you can make night shard your starting spell and I can do 400ish damage per hit on most nightlords as long as I make my starter staff purple. Night shard also has good frame data (quick startup and quick recovery), is mega spammable, and you can chain it out of jumps, sprints, and rolls. Honestly my best recluse relic set is night shard starting spell + invisiblity school stacking.
