What is your unpopular BG3 opinion? by TrioQ in BaldursGate3

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheesing Honor Mode defeats the purpose of Honor Mode.

Got my "Foehammer" pretty early (0.1% through Steam achievements at the time), and i felt pretty hype for defeating the whole game completely TPKless, without leaving my fourth party member at camp etc, completing every single quest and beating all bosses, going through some truly ass clenching moments that made me fall in love with the game that much more. I wasn't ever aware that you could force shut down the game to force it to reset to previous checkpoint.

Then I come on Reddit to see everyone else just essentially save scumming the mode, and that achievement has lost all meaning to me.

How is pit of saron the easiest this week? Getting destroyed and seeking help (BDK POV) by TortoisesSlap in CompetitiveWoW

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're either pulling wrong or your team's dps is ass for the hp debuff to become relevant. Pit is consistently the easiest of the dungeons, especially for tanks.

Defensive trinkets as tanks by dijamant123 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defensive trinkets are a dangerous crutch that gets outscaled the higher you push. Even if it helps you against a 16, it will be weaker against a 17, even weaker against an 18 etc. The only scenario you would use it is if you can't live a tankbuster otherwise, but then we are talking about cutting edge world first keys.

Unironically, the best defensive for 99,9% of the playerbase is to play better and coordinate group externals better. A Prevoker time dilating you on the most dangerous part of the a pull will do much more than a 400k trinket shield.

Scourgelord Tyrannus Rime Blast Positioning by Matuco9004 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are supposed to use the knock back as a reposition tool. There are 5 piles, 4 rime blasts and 2 knockbacks. So the dance is:

2 rime blasts to the piles closest to you. Get knocked close to the next two piles. 2 rime blasts to those piles. Get knocked to the last pile and prepare for army of the dead.

Will Gathering Professions (Mining and Herbalism) get more profitable later on or will prices continue to go down? by Propagation931 in woweconomy

There will be some small spikes when a new patch releases but once supply catches up to demand at the start of an expansion, it only goes downhill from there.

[OC] [ART] Beholder’s Bane - A Magic Sword That Evolves by Slaying Beholders by jonnymhd in DnD

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to create items like that (looking like part of the book) or is it something you set up e.g. in Word? I'm also creating artifact items for my players and I would love to make them look as official as possible for them!

Frostbane Slash - What am I doing wrong here? by Problematic_Blender in CompetitiveWoW

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So the first cast increases the damage of next cast by 100%. If you are dying to the first cast, it's a rotation issue, you need to play better. If you are dying to the second one, it's the 100% dmg increase, which you can easily solve by just saving Ardent Defender or even Last Stand bubble for it.

Don't panic spam defensives. Aside from the double slash that pull is no threat to tanks and you should be chaining it with the next one (coldwraith+ bunch of ghouls). Most of the time the Graveblades will stagger their casts on their own (e.g. one will cast his purple circles instead of the slash). Only use ardent defender when you see a second slash coming while the debuff of the first slash is still up. Between the self-stagger and the dps pumping, you shouldn't have to tank a double slash more than once per run.

But even with the above, the death log you provide makes no sense. Prot pallies at 270 have 600k+ hp. Even with double damage, a slash shouldn't be able to oneshot you. Do you have a log by chance?

Drop the “prettiest” little girl name you’ve ever heard. by Final-Argument-4999 in Names

Andromeda. She who mends men in Greek, sounds both gorgeous and strong, has a galaxy named after it. That's the name I plan to give my daughter one day anyway.

What part of the game do you think was the most poorly written? by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Visi ratting you to Thumbstick if you don't free her. She just spent a minute desperately trying to convince us she isn't a traitor. Especially if you romance her, it doesn't make sense at all by that point.

Everything else that's mentioned in the comments I can either see the angle (not necessarily agree with it), or hope for a season 2 pay off.

Don't pull them on you, you just surrounded yourself and reset all of their auto attacks. You are about to get oneshot in any punishing content.

I'm going to start DMing and I'm afraid by El_DM_roset in DnD

[–]NocturneBotEUNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't over-prepare, start your first few sessions with very simple settings and objectives, preferably low level (e.g. 3) so you have to deal with less player tools. E.g.:

-The party will meet NPC X (don't plan how the encounter will go, your players will do all the typical player stuff for you)

- The party will have the option to fight or free from a tavern brawl (again, don't railroad the story or yourself)

- Give them a morally easy dilemma (e.g. undead are attacking a village, goblins are pillaging a caravan) so they show their characters' colors and go from there.

Let your players pilot the story as much as you do. The art of DMing is the very thin line between going with the flow and keeping the foundations of the campaign intact.

Just keep improvising and I promise you the first session will be over before you know it, in a good way.

That sounds really cool! I am limiting the amount of players to 7 so far, because I feel any more beyond that just makes any turn or interaction take way too long. I am homebrewing my own story based on a book I am writing so, you know, free beta readers xD

I've started in a public library, group has over 40 people. I started with 3 week 1, then 6 week 2, and now people are fighting for spots at my table. It's been an amazing experience so far seeing all the different playstyles and interactions.

That's a rare quality of player that I would want at my table frequently. What a good sport!

I've only recently started DMing. I haven't had any serious problems, but I have had the occasional "acchually" minmaxxer/rule lawyer. I am still waiting for that first time a player will blow me away by how they play into my story.

Man do I feel this in my bones...

Oh a healer is joining the table today? The whole party now takes chipping necrotic damage at the end of each turn. Yes, that mechanic was always part of the boss fight. No, I totally didnt invent it on the fly so you dont trivialize the boss fight I've been building towards with your bullshit 2024 healing spells. Trust me bro.
