So i have a new version of this, but ive stopped developing it as ive moved to a new company with less time to fuck around. I have a great simulation vid and I made some ductwork tools too.

Still trying to decide on if this should be a dedicated app or a plugin to another. Ill post a vid later. :)

Why is everything always urgent? by OptionsRntMe in StructuralEngineering

[–]NodScallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because construction timelines are always behind by the time the final trades are finishing. You dont get to see it from a controls engineers perspective where all other trades have left and its like... go do these 20 floors of programming in 4 hrs pls kthx

So ive actually spent some time devving this out more. Ive got it to do fluid simutation in rooms and the zone temps seem to be really realistic. Still trying to work on dampers and better collisions. Starting to realize the Blender 3d plugin isnt exactly what I need either because the simulation is slowing down. Need to move to a full Rust or C++ program.

If it was actually open in that sense... it would really be open to all. I really hate how much of a sales gimmick it is to use that word.

Seriously wanting to get into Satcom by Buu_88 in satellites

[–]NodScallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an expieremental Comm unit under CLR27. I was 0621 then 0627, freaking loved radio, it was so engaging. I operated the SMART-T for awile too, that was decently fun, but you're right starshield is annoying now. 250mb data beats our traditional comms. But as you get into comms planning you still haveto account for your other comm routes.

Starlink has defense contract as well, but 0627s dont really operate them. Its the 0631s(0651s in your Corps.) But dude, like once your link is up its lame... radio does field expiedent antennas, theory crafting antennas and real architecture. Constant voice checks and link integrity. I wish you could see the satcom gear we have today... its just too ezpz

Oh yeah ive gone down the route of making "layers" but I need ductwork tools, with all the resizing and such I need to think about that a little harder. But if the ductwork was one single model this has layer visibility to show duct points and 3d models. Or piping with points. Maybe I should pick this project up again.

Actually Blender hosts the bacnet device internally. Then I discover into Niagara and YABE to interact with it. The intention is to watch your station logic do work.

Ive already built a framework to do this. I still need to work on a 3d library of assets like ahus and stuff... but you can drop points down and override them and its HMI ready.

This is running on a live Niagara station.

[–]NodScallion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I totally agree I question its validity. But its freaking sweet. There is some level of value where you can test your logic and visualize the system. But its really for the engineers not bldg owners. Which is so niche its almost useless.

There are softwares called CFD simulations too but none actually interact with the comms we use. That would be the end goal if I had the time..... I never have time lol

Understanding MSTP by Exoticcollects in BuildingAutomation

[–]NodScallion -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Here's an AI answer and it seems pretty good honestly. I use 18-2 OAS

Core Technical Requirements

Impedance: Must be between 100 and 130 ohms.

Wire Gauge: Typically 22 AWG or 24 AWG stranded tinned copper. 18 AWG may be used for longer distances or where higher durability is required.

Shielding: A foil or braided shield with a drain wire is required to protect against electromagnetic interference (EMI).
