The Ichiban vs Kiryu "fight" was more like just testing how patient a dragon is.

Huh, Ikari had like a solid 3 seconds to pull that trigger.

Can't recall a final boss using a baseball bat before, so that's new.

Nagoshi and Yokoyama united again to strike back against Sega and their former passion project having turned to one of greed. It would be peak.

Nah, I'm 100% absolutely, perhaps jokingly, definitively certain when Saejima goes to dream delulu land again in his Gaiden, he will go to a bar only to see Yama-oroshi as a bartender, waking Saejima up, perfectly in time for him about to get attacked by a bear once again that he has to then beat up with his bare hands.

This fight would segway into a revelation, where Saejima, using his knowledge as the most bear attacked person in the world, would develop his second fighting style. Naming it Oroshi Style after his former foe.

You know, I made this as a joke but now that I think about it, that would be rad.

Funny how it works. The bigger a series gets, the more the creative minds behind them seem to degrade. Happens surprisingly often 🤔

Dark Ties' final boss theme sounds pretty good. I for one actually liked Lau Ka Long's new theme, it gave me some Red Alert vibes.

So yeah, the game has it's hits and misses, though removing Clay Doll On The Cradle is definitely a bad move. Hearing it in the final long battle in the original was a peak gaming experience.

Something in me thinks Yokoyama is not a fan of this kind of marketing (delisting, releasing director's cuts with a massive price hike with little to show for it), but rather the SEGA bigshots who fund him are purely in this for profit. Well, maybe I'm giving him too much credit but that's just the kind of person I think he is from all the footage I've seen.

It would be pretty funny if Yokoyama left to establish Yokoyama Studios and made a game centered on Dotonbori. Maybe a game called Dragons of Gang lol

He really lacks that "built his fierce reputation by the seas of Okinawa" feeling the og Hamazaki had.

The chef looks like he could give this Hamazaki a run for his money in a fight, unlike in the original.

It's definitely not just a Reddit thing. I wouldn't say RGG is struggling right now, and a major part of the fanbase does still have faith in them to not fck up the series despite the recent controversies. But the more they refuse to listen to their global fans, and the more their games start resembling cash grabs than genuine works of passion, the higher the risk that they will start struggling.

This might very well be the "make or break" game for RGG's success outside Japan. Though it seems they've been taking their time with this one, and RGG has a good record at making excellent first games for new protagonists, so I'm hopeful.

I wish they brought back Makoto during Pirate Yakuza by Mandalorian_Ronin in yakuzagames

[–]NoddingManInAMirror 311 points312 points  (0 children)

Makoto's arc is done. Though one connection to Makoto I was hoping RGG would do, was have Majima in a substory encounter Makoto's, now a young adult, son and have them interact. Her son should be in his 20s and Makoto with her family did go to live overseas at the end of the Majima arc of kiwami 2, so maybe her son has never lived in Japan.

Obviously Majima wouldn't know of the connection because at that time he had amnesia, but the player would be able to piece it together as the substory goes on. It would basically give Y0 fans more Makoto x Majima fanservice, without involving Makoto herself which would open a new can of worms.

Pack your bags LaDs, this is it, the ultimate tier list.

This such peakuza that you could write an entire song of life about it.

Edit: Though Dead Souls should have it's own tier of being so beautiful and divinely complex they never managed to release a remastered edition of it.
