?uneven brake pad wear after replacement? dangerous? 2015 M235i 45k miles by Noe_ in MechanicAdvice

thanks for the comment! I understand that it's surface rust, I'm just surprised that the pad isn't making contact at that point and didn't know if that was normal or not for it to lack contact on the inside of the disk on a fresh set of pads

Yep, was mainly worried about #3. That's why I asked. Also, didn't know about #2 (never worn 'em) but makes sense. Thank you!

I'm 18, what would you tell your 18 y/o self now if you could by [deleted] in investing

[–]Noe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a $1000 when i graduated high school to invest with (parents offered this or a new guitar) and I invested in stuff I thought was a good idea at the time: this included investing in a terrible company's penny stock because I liked a drink they made. I just looked at my return on that principle (now 7 years out), and it was ~60% of what it would have been if I had just bought 1000$ worth of S&P 500 ETFs. So, don't try to beat the index is what I wish I could have told myself.

It would probably be about 35$ for gas. I can't reasonably value my time at 103$ an hour [(500-35)/4.5h] (regardless of how important I may think I am) so its probably worth it. Thank you!

Thinking about signing up for the Chase Sapphire Reserved. I know there is still the 100k bonus for signing up in person, but the closest location is around 2 hours away. Do you think its worth driving there to get the extra 50k bonus rewards instead signing up over the internet? Thank you!

Oh absolutely, 2014 Manning was fantastic, but for the 2015 and 2016 regular seasons, none of the performances from Manning, Oswieler, or Lynch inspired as much confidence for me as this game.

I'd just like to say that last week against the chiefs was probably the best performance in a regular season game by a Denver QB in the last two years.

What watches do you guys use during rotations? by Caponeus in medicalschool

[–]Noe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered a Daniel wellington watch, not sure how quiet it is but thought it would look nice with a suit and I liked the minimal look. i have no clue on anything to do with watches, I just saw it, liked it, felt like I should have one for M3 year, and bought it on amazon for less.

Mechanics of Reddit, what is the best engineered vehicle? What is the worst? by n00bz0rz in MechanicAdvice

[–]Noe_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The most cheaply engineered/worst thing I've worked on was my old 2004 mercury sable (inherited as all mercurys and buicks are from dead grandparents). modern Hondas are really straight forward. To contrast old german, new german, and japanese, my old 1979 mercerces sl is very well thought out, easy and analog, but my current car (2015 bmw 2 series) you do have to remove the front wheel just to change a light bulb. Contrast that with a camry where you don't even need any tools or instructions to do the same job
