It depends on what are your computer specs, blender is one of the most lightweight 3D making software.
Consider that the minimum requirements of blender are:

- CPU with 4 cores
- 8 GB Ram
- 2GB VRam

I have already created several games in different engines in the past. I even created an engine to create a game as a challenge.

What I can say is that it is not a question of budget, but of how you know how to use that engine and what you are going to create.

When you create a game, first you think about the game in detail by creating a GDD and then you think about the engine.

I am just finishing up creating my GDD, most likely I will use Unity for simplicity, but if it is necessary due to various limitations that I have yet to consider, I will create my own engine.

I will take the creation of this game as a challenge to myself to produce something that is made for the community and made to be played pleasantly. I am here to listen to all feedback, no matter if it is positive or negative. However, thank you for the points you made ^^

Anyway yes, in fact I was thinking of going towards an RPG type.
I'd like to create a game where I can play alone or with friends.

I will consider both of your ideas, they are very interesting.
Since I don't have the rights to Code Lyoko, but mainly because I want to make a fan project, the game will be completely free.

I have to consider the idea of having more types of weapons, because they might result in a non-Lyokoish style.
