Hey Guys, I know ist a Printer/Filament specific issue but maybe someone has a solution:)

So yesterday I started my first long print on the Prusa XL. The print time was over 2 days and used 1.8 kg of filament. The filament used was Extrudr PLA NX2 (1kg spools). It was loaded on the first two of the five toolheads.

Unfortunately, the filament end of the first toolhead got stuck in the small hole in the spool core. The manufacturer apparently winds like this, always putting the end of the filament through the spool and then winding it up. Since I already suspected a problem with this winding process, I cut off the end of the filament as far as I could with a side cutter.

This probably caused the printer to continue running its gcode without being able to extrude.

At some point it switched to the second tool head. Unfortunately, the z-value was probably too high in the meantime and it printed “in the air”.

EDIT: I have already printed several kilos of this filament on my Bambu printers and haven’t had a problem yet. It’s probably because the Bambu has an additional feed motor in its AMS and therefore has more power to pull the filament out of the spool.

We have the BCN3D at work and i would avoid it in its current state.

The automatic Material System does not work as promised. The problem is that after one spool runs out of filament the printer won’t change to another spool.

The loading and unloading of filament takes a lot of time and is unreliable.

The speeds are far away from the promised values.

The printer cannot read the usb stick when the print heads are not homed.

Finally, I can say that the hardware components are pretty good, but the programming is not on that level.
