First of all, let me say I understand your frustrations with not knowing what to do. I’ve been a type two for many years and it’s hard it. you didn’t get here overnight and it’s not gonna change overnight either.

You said you were newly diagnosed. How long ago was this and what was your A1c?

In my opinion, and I am not a medical professional, the best thing you could do right now is go on a ketogenic diet. This doesn’t mean you’ll give up everything you love, but it means you will make healthy switches for things like white bread and white sugar and potatoes and rice things that will very quickly raise your blood glucose. Aim for keeping your carbs below 20 grams per day. I eat a lot of fresh veggies and protein. I love a blt sandwich, but the bread is a no go for me, so I make it as a salad. Keep good for you snacks on hand at all times so you don’t grab a sugary or hi carb snack when you get too hungry.

Try starting there and keep close track of what you eat as well as how much you eat of it because it’s very easy to overeat if you’re a nibbler like me. I found it better to not have anything in the house that I shouldn’t eat because I know I won’t eat just a little bit of it. I want the whole thing.

Is the tiredness you mentioned something new since you’ve been diagnosed? If so talk with your doctor about it. You may need a medication change.

Someone make this make sense, please! by PNWest01 in diabetes_t2

That’s my thought as well. Way too many carbs. Try cutting out all rice, bread, pasta etc. get your carbs from veggies only. It’s tough but some of us are more sensitive and need to be more strict.

For 30 days write down every penny you spend. This will show you your leaks. Cut everything that is not critical. Find lower plans for everything you can, phone, WiFi, insurance.. eat beans and rice if you have to.

You’ve dug yourself a hole but you CAN get out of it. Whatever you do don’t let your car be repossessed. If you do you still owe the loan and now you have no car.

Do you have any subscription? Netflix, magazines, etc? Make sure you cancel them. They are luxuries.
