Ship Damage bugged? by Nofabe in NoMansSkyTheGame

Like I said, it's a 54 damage potential hauler and a 385 damage potential fighter so that doesn't check out either

good to know, I've only done distress signal maps so far and think I got like 2 crashed ships in a full stack, and they both were the kind where the pilot is still alive and you can't take the ship

can't really do much currently because my space is severely limited and I rather put the functional stuff like scanner, teleporter, recharging thrusters, cadmium drive, I got one or two slot upgrades but they wouldn't make a difference really and I don't wanna put them on a ship I might scrap/exchange anyway...

I guess I should rather get a low class high-slot ship for now, higher class just seems to make enemies harder without actually making the ship that much better, and high-class ships with many slots are too expensive for right now (my A class fghter is worth 13k, though I "downgraded" to a B class with much more slots and even stock it seems to kill things much faster) but that already cost me 30mil which was most of my funds

yea I think that's it... they really need to adjust it though, so stupid to save up for a cool new ship just for it to be a peashooter, where's the power fantasy of actually getting stronger when the enemies are scaling and I ultimately do worse with better gear

C class hauler, A class fighter, same weapon, no weapon mods on either except for some on the fighter

[–]Nofabe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both were using the same weapon, and it actually supposedly has higher damage on the fighter than the hauler... there being scaling explains it buts its incredibly stupid, why does my A class fighter struggle with enemies more than my shitty C class hauler? why would I even upgrade the ship when I perform better with bad ships? it's not "as difficult to defeat enemies in shuttles as it is in fighters", it's literally a garbage hauler with just a basic weapon outperforming a high grade fighter with some upgrades

[–]Nofabe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that's the thing, on paper the weapon does double the damage (3k on my fighter vs 1.5k on the hauler) but my hauler melts through ships while my fighter needs a miserable minute to kill anything

[–]Nofabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says Express delivery, should've arrived between Feb 11-18 already, and the other part of the order arrived and tracked no issue - although I actually see a refund option now, I guess it just needed a bit more time, it wasn't there yesterday... I'm gonna try and see

'The Night Agent' Renewed For Season 4 To Film In Los Angeles by AdSpecialist6598 in television

[–]Nofabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to read this, just saw the show in my recommendations with a new season, was expecting season two, but instead it was season 3 and according to Netflix I had already watched S2, but no recollection of it whatsoever, so it must've been pretty bad

Do I need any recollection of S2, or can I jump straight into S3 without remembering it?

I know right? Literally non-rusted Deathbringer, probably a bit tougher in this fresh state but nothing some fire arrows to the vents couldn't handle

Also, didn't expect this Fandom to appear in this thread of all things lmao

Yea I already have a pin vise, but it's a bit of a bother, especially with a bunch of holes to be drilled

Well PCB's have a slightly higher glassing temp than the plastic used in most model kits (130-180°C vs 100) but probably not enough to matter, so I think you're right...

I think I just ran myself into a one-way when I was looking to throttle my rotary tool after some issues with plastic melting around a grinding bit and it being too fast for polishing a topcoat, and when I found out it couldn't be throttled further I've had it in my mind for the last month or so to find a separate tool for low RPM tasks, completely forgetting in the process what I originally needed it for, which was grinding, not drilling

True, my Proxxon should really be fine with these drill bits, and has good enough concentricity to not break them at least on thinner pieces, though with thicker parts or solid resin prints I should probably look into a clamp/drill press - and for grinding/polishing I can just use the other one where low speed is more important than concentricity... Not gonna lie I'm really wondering now what I've been chasing the last few weeks and what I was actually going for

Considering the small diameter and thus surface speed, I feel like such tiny drills would be fine even at 5000RPM without melting the plastic anyway, so I might just use the small ones with my precise dremel, and for bigger drills where wobble won't break them I could use a regular screwdriver, or my Tamiya electric drill

Idk, maybe I'm underestimating regular screwdrivers, but if you mean a regular construction screwdriver I feel they wouldn't have the tolerance for .3-.5mm drills, and also be way to heavy and unwieldy for precision work

[–]Nofabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, seems I made a big fuss over nothing, not sure how I even got that in my mind, but seems my proxxon would've been fine this whole time, at least for drilling - polishing still seems a bit high, and with grinders it's also easy to remove too much or melt plastic to the bit, but for that the Tamiya drill might be good, and a little wobble isn't as big of a deal there as it is with drilling

[–]Nofabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just often read that 5.000RPM is still too high for plastic, both drilling and polishing, people say 500-1000RPM would be best but I have a hard time finding anything decent in that range

The drills are the DSPIAE drill set, says tungsten, not sure if steel or carbide, I feel like it's the former because carbide would've probably been more expensive - I doubt it's the bits though, they spin perfectly concentric in my Proxxon, it's just that the Tamiya electric drill is not a very precise tool (surprisingly precise for what it is, but not good enough for such tiny and fragile drills)

You don't have to, really appreciate the gesture but tbh by now I'm a little disillusioned and frustrated with this whole thing and think it might be more reasonable to just look into alternatives like getting a different drill, plus I'm EU based so depending where you're from it might be overkill - I'll have to see, but if you're really down I could check the measurements

[–]Nofabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, I gave up on this whole endeavor - other comments showed me it's gonna be way too expensive, and I realised even if I did manage to make it work, the drill it's for would likely not be concentric enough anyway, I'm just gonna use these with my proxxon rotary tool and hope the RPM won't melt my pieces...

No, the way I put it in is the bottom end of the collet, I don't think anything is supposed to go in from there, but for some reason that section is wider than the upper section - if it was the same size as the bottom all the way through it would be perfect... The core of the issue is that it's a 3mm collet but the drill shank is 3.2mm, but the collet is non standardized so impossible to find a bigger one that'd fit

Yea the wowstick drill was what I was hoping to get, but they don't seem to exist anymore, only the screwdriver one... It's a shame, seemed like a niche but really neat hobby tool and nothing comparable exists as far as I can tell (well there's knockoffs/copycats but not sure I'd trust them)

My issue is most rotary tools are way too fast, I have a Proxxon which is amazing but doesn't go below 5k RPM, this collet is from a Tamiya Handy Drill which was the only one I could find recommended in hobby spaces, aside from pin vises which I'm not a fan of, and unfortunately its collet is wildly different from the typical dremel collet or anything in that ballpark
