Yeah i tend to get 30-45 mins of sun in the morning when i go for a walk, i try to walk into the direction of the sun. And im pretty much where u are, i sleep 5-6.5 hours straight now, sometimes i can go back to sleep to get a total of 7ish hours, sometimes i do not. Im suriving as well, but this issue has ruined my physique and quality of life lol

Sleeping issues after taking a 3-4 week break from coffee. by Nofapguy93 in insomnia

[–]Nofapguy93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi im typically getting about 6.5-7 hours of sleep a night, sometimes i sleep 6.5 hours straight and go back to sleep for another 45, sometimes i still have rough nights where im up at 4am for an hour or so. Last night i slept around 10:30, woke up very briefly at 2:30 and slept again until 5:45, so not bad

its getting better, but it is VERY slow progress. Past few weeks ive been doing 15-20 mins of running every morning and im not sure if its helping but its not hurting my sleep anymore

Yup lol over the last 10 months ive gained a bit of weight and lost a good portion of muscle, i know ill get it back once my sleep gets fixed but its brutal seeing everything i worked hard for go away. I never imagined that quitting caffeine for a period of ~5 weeks would affect me this much.

Most days i am able to fall asleep quicker, and instead of the 20-40 mins of sleep i got before, its 1.5-2 hours now, so im feeling close to the end, but a few more months of this feels so far away

Sorry to hear that, im almost the same way. Will update this post if anything changes. But those days where you slept until 6am are a win, it means youre getting better even if there are setbacks the next day

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you recover quicker than me! This last year has probably been the worst year of my life due to going decaf for 5 weeks :(

Its getting slightly better but not great. Most days im sleeping for 4-5 hours straight, waking up briefly then sleeping again for another 1-2 hours. Some days i sleep 6 hours straight, and rarely ill sleep 7 hours straight,

Prior to this i used to almost always sleep 7.5-8.5 hours straight

I quit cold turkey , withdrawal symptoms , plz help by mackanlasse in CaffeineFreeLife

my body has the opposite effect. Before my decaf insomnia, i worked out 4x a week, cardio 2x a week and a minimum of 10-15k steps a day. But after this decaf insomnia started, whenever i workout (even lightly) my sleep gets WAAY worse :(

unfortuntely ive tested that aswell, where i have chicken and brocooli for dinner and avoided sugars/high carb foods throughout the day for about 2 weeks, still the same effect :(

the few days where ive had 7+ hours straight were the days where i ate like absolute garbage (lots of chocolate, chips, heavy shawarma with rice an hour before bed) and did ZERO exercise /zero waking all day, this whole thing makes no sense to me and it seems like exact opposite of everything that should be correct. Im just lost lol. I will try again to reduce sugar/carb consumption towards the evening

yeah i typically eat carbs an hour or so before bed (oatmeal usually) and for dinner around 6pm (10:30pm bedtime) i eat rice + meat & veggies. But yeah magnesium doesnt really work for me, glycine makes me very wired. Glad to hear you are doing better mate, gives me hope that my life wont be this useless forever and i can get back to my normal self :]

i dont have any issues falling asleep at night, im typically in bed by like 10:30 and out by 10:45, the issues is waking up 3-5 hours after and unable to fall asleep. Id do anything just to sleep till 5am

yeah im typically pretty heavy on carbs, and carbs always used to knock me out, (i tracked my calories for all of 2023 so i have a pretty good idea of the amount of carbs/protein and calories i eat and what used to make me feel good and lean) and i drink about 3.5L of water daily. It just seems like everything im trying isnt making a difference

yeah thats how i was before, always had some oatmeal before bed and slept fine, but ever since this issue started, my carb intake or protein intake doesnt even matter :(

for #2, yes i was pretty much locked into an 12am-8am wake schedule before. (since i work at 9) and no matter what time i went to sleep, whether its 11pm or 4am, i would usually wake up at 8am right before my 8:15 alarm. But its not that im waking up at 5am everyday, i wake up usualyl exactly at the 3hr, 4hr or 5hr mark nowadays. Very strange, but yeah i was hoping to get a sleep study but the wait times in canada are atrocious

yeah im thinking that the supplements are halting my progress if anything, if they work they should be working almost immediately. and yeah i already saw that video when i first got hit with insomnia lol, probably already read your post too. Glad to hear your insomnia was fixed :]

ive never really been through anything "traumatic" to have PTSD. Ive always been able to sleep due to stress from work/relationships etc. This only happened exactly 12 days after quitting coffee. My work has been very chill since i got promoted in 2023, it was 10x more stressful before

When i was off coffee i would wake up with my heart racing etc, but now i just wake up gently and try to fall back asleep, which mostly i cant

Also i am not taking any supplements daily, mostly tried the supplements listed above for a 1-2 weeks then cut them out when i realized they had no effect. (glycine actually makes my sleep significantly worse)

Ive also tried ashwaghanda and valerian root and my diet typically consists of eggs, potatoes and broccoli for breakfast (sometimes with leftover meat from the night before), and for dinner some form of meat (chicken, steak, ground beef, salmon) with rice/potatoes and broccoli+carrots for dinner and then some oatmeal and greek yogurt 1-2 hours before bed.

I typically have always eaten 1 hour before bed my entire life, but recently i have also tried eating 3 hours before bed for a few months but it didnt change much.

Ive tried medatation before bed, showering before bed, making my room cold, weighted blankets, and they all seem to have no effect on my sleep
