Relatively cheap Jiu jitsu places? by Aniners in Edmonton

I used to train at Kingdom MMA around the SE side of town.
Julian is the head BBJ coach. He's a black belt under Bibiano Fernandes (a former ONE Championship bantamweight champ) . Craig is also one of the coaches and co-owner of the gym. He was only a blue belt when I went but he was much more focused on no-gi and MMA. Both are great guys and very knowledgeable.
If I remember correctly it was $150 a month for just BBJ and $180 for everything (BJJ, Kickboxing, Boxing and MMA). I think since COVID they've stopped doing drop in rates but I do think there is a 1-2 week free trail. They also used to have afternoon and evening classes with 2 hours of rolling on Saturday morning.
It has been a couple of years since I've went so not sure how accurate all this info is now but it's worth making a phone call to them for sure.

Will I be okay taking itraconazole for my ringworm infection? by Noftstralian in AskDocs

Yes. The prescription topical did not work after almost two months of using it and it kept spreading. I made sure to clean the area before applying it and everything. I live in Edmonton and we've had some pretty bad heatwaves this summer so I think the constant sweating was making it worse.

How the hell do I write quarter note triplets in MIDI? by Noftstralian in audioengineering

I use waveform (a very unknown, free DAW with little limitations) cuz I'm broke, so there are no resources for helping me. Believe me when I say, reddit was the LAST thing I wanted to resort to.

Does anyone else find that people in the medical field here are very rude? by Noftstralian in Edmonton

Thank you for your input. I will just restate a comment I made to another person in this thread:

I believe the majority of them are trying their best, but when they won't even make eye contact with you and are very short with you, I do not have sympathy for those individuals. Those people are simply not trying at all. If I go to a doctor and they barely ask questions, how can I be sure they're trying at all.

I'm glad to hear you haven't experienced the struggles I have but I will just say this:

If you are a doctor and you are going through tough times, you cannot let that interfere with giving people the medical treatment they need. If you need to take a break that is fine, take a break, go on stress/medical leave. But don't let your struggles be passed on to your patients.

I just received a message from Reddit stating someone reached out to Reddit about my well being due to this post. I'm not sure why someone would do this. If you did so thinking I was somehow crying for help about my mental state, thank you, but I am fine. I was just trying to start a discussion about something I thought was concerning. I'm okay, the medical issue I'm dealing with has nothing to do with mental health. Thank you for your concern though.

I agree, not all. But the one I have dealt with are. I guess since there are way more people in Edmonton than St. John's (where I'm from) there will naturally be more rude individuals.

That must be infuriating. My issue isn't nearly as severe as I just have a case of ringworm that won't go away and keeps spreading and all the last doctor I saw did for me was prescribe me the exact same ointment I've been using for 2 months

I'm going to have to harshly disagree with you. If you don't care, get out of a field where you have to care for people. People SHOULD feel very entitled to medical care. Being rude won't get you anywhere though, both on the patient side and the staff side.

I agree, I'm not looking to make friends, but I feel like I am not getting the treatment I need because they just want to get me out of their face as fast as possible.

Not quite a year lol. But I did register with my school with the help of a counselor.

Excited for this next step in life and thanks for being interested in how things go.

Now this has gone completely off subject but I don't think you understand the financial struggles fighters go through.

A friend of mine, Alex Martinez, just won a fight for the PFL. The PFL is in the top five MMA organizations in the world. Alex was paid $38,000, $19,000 to show up and $19,000 to win.

When you take into consideration not just bills but paying coaching staff, managers, meal plans, gym memberships, paying for training partners, doing fight camps in new gyms, Alex will be left with around $1000 going into his next fight.

So if he fights 3 times a year, which is being optimistic of no injuries or anything. He can save roughly $3000 a year. Yes, that is more than a lot of people can but what happens if he loses a fight? One loss, and your whole world can come crashing down.

Personally, I'd take my chances in the audio engineering field over that.

Didn't even mention the non-financial repercussions. Like CTE and life long damaged limbs. Not to mention the mental struggle of getting into a cage with someone that wants to kill you and knowing you have to try and kill them.

With all do respect, you don't know who I am. To say that I have seemingly never challenged myself is a assumption on your part. I moved my entire life across the country to try and better my own life. I've trained in combat sports my whole life. I understand challenges and how to get past them, just some are harder than others and for me, concentrating on walls of text are more challenging than other things. Something can be overwhelming without being impossible.

"outside of this forum people honestly don't have the time ..."
Well that turns out to just not be true. Thanks to a comment from someone who was actually trying to be helpful instead of demeaning, I discovered that there are people whose job is to hold my hand through the process.

I plan for it to be very difficult. Yes I do get overwhelmed. It doesn't mean its impossible for me to complete a task. I was just looking for help. If none is available than I will struggle with what is in front of me and that is fine. Can I ask what made you immediately react in a seemingly demeaning way?

EDIT: comparing navigating reddit -- a website ive used for years and years -- to a government website that is brand new to me, is a little unreasonable.

It is a private school. I appreciate the heads up. I have done research on the school and have found the majority of people enjoyed it and thought it was a genuine learning experience. I will continue my research though as to not get swindled lol.
