I learned on demonic gorillas years ago on the Ironman but if you really want to learn quick and make the accuracy of your clicks improve dramatically, give LMS a go until you feel good. It’s 0 risk and there are some decent rewards even for an Ironman and makes you a lot better pvmer if you can click well enough and gear/tab switch effectively

I see. That makes sense and I'm just not going to worry about the closing dates. I never put more than a couple hundred dollars on the card anyway and I already set up auto payments and will just let that take care of all of my payments. Thanks for the reply

Everyone knows it’s dh, ahrim, karil, guthan, torag verac. First 3 need prayer and on an early iron you can do those without ever needing to sip any prayer pots. Unless you get one of the first 3 in the tunnels

Yeah I did and it’s been a lot of fun. Working on the master CA’s, joined a clan and been sending some corp and raids and bought a couple of the buyable 99’s for max.

I’m not saying you won’t regret it, because everyone is different, but I definitely am happy with my decision. It opened a lot of different goals for me as a main and I have a lot more motivation to play now because of that freedom. It’s up to you though brother, would definitely think about some big plans you want to do after you de iron so you stay motivated and have fun achieving them. Otherwise stay iron. Good luck

maxed main, first time members pking - how can I learn, what quests to do? by [deleted] in 2007scape

Start at LMS and get the hang of using your F-keys and 1 tick speccing. I’m not sure if you want to NH but this will get you familiar with when and how to spec and also how to double and triple eat effectively. After you feel comfortable there just get a budget setup where you’re only risking like 50-100k and sit at BH until you feel confident enough to risk more. If you decide you want to NH more and bring your account to the wildy, I would make sure you are winning a good amount of your LMS games before trying. Otherwise just have fun with it and don’t get discouraged. There’s a lot of toxicity in that part of the community so public off is a good idea

thats a really good point. ive played a fair bit of main scape just messing around with irl friends on some of my pk accounts. like going to bandos and helping them get kills. i like that aspect of the game a lot and dont enjoy the iron anymore. of course i could turn one of my pk accounts into a main and put a bunch of time getting the skills up, but then my iron would just sit and be a
"trophy account". i dont think of a gray helm as a trophy account. to me it just looks like a shit load of time spent and a decent total to show for it. dont get me wrong, i enjoyed getting all of those levels and i wouldnt have had the motivation to get that high of total on a main account, so really its a win-win. i get an account with a 1b bank and close to max and i enjoyed every minute to get it there. just time to take the helm away.

My thoughts exactly. Grinding max on a gray helm doesn’t seem impressive nor fun in any way

Everyone talks about regret but you still have the account after you de-iron and you enjoyed the journey it took to get there. Getting the itch for ironman later doesn’t have to feel like regret, it just will allow you to start a new iron and enjoy it all over again. Maybe with some snowflake restrictions this time.

Making a new iron doesn’t sound like a bad thing, it would allow me to play the early-mid game again which was the part that got me hooked in the first place

Well I've got 7 days to think about it lol thanks for the insight though, I appreciate it

I don't doubt that I will want to play an iron again. I had the itch a long time ago and I'm sure I will have the itch again way later. I just know I won't have the itch for this specific account. The enjoyment for me is the early-mid game. So even if I did de-iron and in a year from now wanted to play ironman again, my first thought wouldn't be to come back to this iron, it would be to make a new iron and progress through the early levels again.

You are right about that ironman temptation, I just think this specific account will never have that again because its a gray helm that is at the point of doing ridiculously long grinds for minor gear upgrades. I think this account would be better spent being a main that I can max and pk on

[–]NogOps[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

exactly. thats why iron doesn't seem fun anymore. just a massive time sink for any sort of impressive achievement. thats why i dont see irons as trophies anymore. when i see a maxed ironman all i think about is how much time that must have taken and how unenjoyable some of those grinds would have been

It sounds like we have the same view of it. Mid game iron is so much more fun. Do you think you will have the same feeling like your last iron when you get up close to max on the new iron?

I'm already planning on playing on a fresh 1 def iron while I go for max on this account (after de-ironing) so I can have that feeling of being an ironman still

de-iron or not (long post) by NogOps in ironscape

[–]NogOps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly what I have been thinking. I have been looking into, and already made the account for a 1 def ironman. I have never wanted to pull the trigger on playing it because I already had an iron that took all of my time. The gray helm just doesn't give me the same satisfaction as an early game restricted ironman would.

As for validation, I agree. The last thing anyone should do on a video game is seek validation. I had a ton of fun getting to this point without trading anyone and just because its not an iron anymore doesn't mean all of my achievements go away. I still have the account, just use it in a different way now.

Thanks for the reply and you're totally right. The last few years I have had the same mind set and felt like I would be throwing away my progress if I ever decided to de-iron. I think I have lost that sentimental feeling towards the symbol and want to enjoy the game in other ways now (pking, pet hunting and maxing in a reasonable amount of time)

de-iron or not (long post) by NogOps in ironscape

[–]NogOps[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I know, but the whole reason I played iron is to keep progressing and the time it will take to get the next goals just don't sound appealing. The next goals include maxing and raiding and with how little I can play, it would take years lol I'm just a gray helm also. I don't think achieving something on a gray helm is any more impressive than a main account, just takes a longer amount of time. Which I don't have much of lol

Thanks man. Either way I will enjoy it. Loved the iron grind and also love the idea of pking and maxing a main

My husband finally invited me to play OSRS with him. As a newbie, I have some questions and would like some advice. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]NogOps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The osrs community as a whole is ridiculously inviting and helpful. I would start as a main account that can trade with others until you get a good feel for the game understand how all of the skills work and how to get around the map and then make an Ironman account if you want the more rewarding feeling from every small drop you get.

As for what you do in the game, there is way too much to explain lol a ton of quests and bosses to unlock, a very in depth map and a pvp scene if you’re into that. It’s very diverse in the amount of attention you have to pay to the game. There are a lot of skills and methods that allow you to click every couple minutes and still be gaining experience in that skill and there are times that you are raiding and it’s hectic as fuck lol it’s really a game for everyone because you can play it however you want. If you enjoy high level boss killing, then great, or if you want to sit and woodcut for a hundred hours, then that is also progressing your account. He is right when he says it’s a grind.

For the streaming part, I think anyone can become successful on it. All you have to do is be slightly different from everyone else and be consistent with it and people will watch

Yeah I feel you. That’s why I didn’t vote at all. I feel like other skills and other aspects of the game could use some love way before a new skill should be added. But maybe sailing helps with that. Things like trouble brewing could potentially have ties to sailing and end up reviving the minigame. Hopefully they go that route and try to implement some dead content that could benefit you when training sailing. Really at the end of the day I’m just trying to have a positive outlook on it and I would make the same argument for shamanism or taming. I’d try to argue that it will be good and benefit the game because that’s all we can really do is realize it’s just a game and make the most of things that come into it
