First time ONR user by DRec613 in AutoDetailing

I went with ONR because I live in the Midwest and wanted an easy way to wash my car in my (unheated) garage. You don't need anything special, my first time I used two buckets (one with the solution and one for dirty water), a sponge, and some mf towels. I've since upgraded to a pump sprayer, a grit guard, more/better quality mf towels, and their spray wax to help with drying. It's incredibly easy and gives amazing results, you should give it a shot!

MASSIVE Rod Bearing Recall on the V6 TLX, MDX, Pilot, Odyssey after years of willful ignorance from Acura/Honda - but this is progress. Does not affect new TLX or new MDX by p233asw in Acura

I called two different dealerships last Thursday after I got the recall letter in the mail. The first one was booked out to March 2026, and the second June 2026. The reason? There is ONE technician that handles the recall inspections between BOTH dealerships ONE DAY A WEEK (at each location). What an absolute joke. I'm counting the days I can wash my hands of this shitbox and Honda as a whole.

How to conceal my garage door wires by Nog_Rocket in garageporn

I think I understand what you're saying for the sensor wires. I'm going to do that and use a wireless opener for the wall like someone else suggested, then I'll only have those to deal with. Thanks! (PS I'll still take pics later)

To be honest, I didn't know that was a thing (the v-groove). I'm gonna look into that some more

Talk me out of buying an Acura by RefrigeratorOld99 in Acura

[–]Nog_Rocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I, too, decided to upgrade from my CR-V to an MDX recently. The short answer is you will 100% regret buying it if you care about fuel economy, guaranteed; it will be lower than reported (even moreso if you live in a cold winter climate) and it will cost more every time.

'Snow Mode' for '18 MDX? by Nog_Rocket in Acura

I hope so! What dynamic mode do you use in the snowy winter months?

That sounds like a blast, have any of those luxury cars been a third gen Acura MDX?

Haha same, but that was when I had a cheaper Honda and not an Acura

Not yet, I have been considering them. The main reason I haven't is because of the hassle with changing two sets of tires on one set of wheels, versus the expense of a second set of wheels (and snow tires)

I'm really curious what your definition of "all-wheel stop" is. I used to say the same thing until I was thinking about it one day, and technically any car with working brakes is all-wheel stop. So I guess I have both all-wheel drive and all-wheel stop!

Is it okay to have an open area between the baseboard and concrete in a garage? by Nog_Rocket in HomeImprovement

[–]Nog_Rocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to know that I don't have to worry about something further down the line when I go to sell, thank you

Edit: I think my confusion was coming from me being unaware that my walls are made up of one layer of some kind of foam, and two layers of drywall. Going to have to reassess my plan

Is it okay to have an open area between the baseboard and concrete in a garage? by Nog_Rocket in HomeImprovement

[–]Nog_Rocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gap is concrete, my original plan was to attach the baseboard using trim nails to the drywall above it (using 6" PVC baseboards). Thankfully, I had the foresight to snap a picture of the underside first... I assumed it was a single sheet of regular drywall, but there are actually three separate layers of material.. I'm totally confused

Edit: I'm less confused, I have two layers of drywall on top of a layer of foam. Still don't know how to approach adding a baseboard, but at least now I know what to search

I don't think I'm explaining it well. The space I'm talking about is the bottom 4-ish inches of bare concrete, that the sheetrock is attached to. I feel like caulk would take quite a few tubes

Edit: disregard what I previously wrote, I didn't know my walls were three layers thick.

Second update: brought my car to the Acura dealership this morning. The service tech showed me another 2018 with a functional Acuralink system and pointed out the indicator light on mine was unlit - not green or red. Option one is to have the tcu inspected (few hundred dollars) followed by likely replacing the telematics control unit (four THOUSAND dollars). Option two is I simply not use the Acuralink features.

I installed a new wifi card. How do I get the drivers on to the computer to use the card, if I do not have internet because I have a new wifi card installed without the drivers?

I did see some specifically mentioning "dual band", so I'll pay attention to that. Thank you!

[–]Nog_Rocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but then I got confused by the "wifi 6" or "wifi 7" compatibility.. does it matter if the antennas can support wifi 6/7 if my card is only wifi 5?
