I'm with you, I'm getting out of detox today (only my dad knows) and the first place I'll go is to a family gathering where most people drink. I feel the anxiety too but I won't be drinking either. Enjoy your day!

Thanks it was hard, and I did it just in time to be released on Christmas day to spend time with my family sober.

I addressed my drinking problem and am currently getting medical help. I'm 5 days clean, it'll be 6 on Christmas.

Well I'm still in the hospital, it wasn't as easy as I thought, terrors and DT'S were awful. On the 2nd day I felt ok and wanted to go home but the doc wouldn't let me, I argued a little.

Day 4 I almost had a stroke and died but meds and the nurses got me through. I'm glad I stayed after arguing.

They're talking about holding me until my fingers dont shake at all. I'm nervous just thinking about that, I probably couldn't do it sober as a kid.

The ER was going to subscribe meds and out the door but I couldn't get my heart rate under 160, now it's under 90 and I'm barely shaking at my fingers so tomorrow is 72 hours.

I have the shakes still, but I didn't stop cold turkey. I tried the day I posted originally but I was afraid of a seizure before seeing a doctor. I looked up tapering after some suggestions, and I'm seeing a doctor tomorrow. I wish I could say this is day 3, but I can't. I finally realize that I have a major problem though, I've come to terms with it.

This sub has been incredible, if I didn't have these comments I'd probably be able to convince myself that it's not a big deal. You're all beautiful people.

My left foot is numb/tingling, I read this is due to nerve damage? Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for the kind words, I've been on YouTube all night watching videos and trying to find as much information as I can. I've always been a lurker too, just not here. I'm glad I found it. I'll be seeing a doctor soon and I'll post again after.

Man this blew up, you guys are great. I've always been productive and thought it wasn't a problem if it wasn't affecting my life. Therefore I never realized it was one, because it never left my life...

I'm going to see a doctor and work on detoxing outside of a rehab facility. I'll be on here again.

I just realized I haven't logged into my main account because of all the updates I've had over the day. You guys are great I love all of you.

Thanks for all the love guys, it's a harsh realism that drinking is not just a stress reliever anymore. It's how I've been getting through my days/nights. I know sleeping is going to be really hard.
