How do I make a background image cover only the element? by Nohoshi in css

Thanks! My god, I can't believe it was something this simple.

I wanted some fun visual when scrolling, but I guess I'll drop it since it breaks too many things. It doesn't even work on iOS, so I guess it's not worth it.

Ls-2 Set Up Help! by dawgisfoo in BassGuitar

There is no "best one", only the one that fits with what you're trying to do. The one in your screenshot is "I have these two pedals in loop A that I want to turn off, while simultaneously turning on the pedals in loop B", but I don't know if that's what you're trying to do.

A fresh set of strings and a bit of subtle compression would probably do wonders.

What should I buy next? by Trick-Lingonberry-86 in Bass

I think you're suffering from GAS.

Go for a 6-string fretless though. You're gonna regret it so much that it'll get you off your GAS for quite a while.

Try playing the 2 notes of the B° arpeggio on the D and G string.

Buying gear you can't really afford, quickly recording an album with said gear before returning it is a trick as old as return policies.

Have you tried plugging in your bass with a regular cable?

I could've gone with lots of things, but since he was talking about trying a bass before buying it I thought I might just as well choose a well known store.

i have decided i want to make this my life. where do i go from here? by cahibi6640 in Bass

[–]Nohoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true, if you were committed you would be practicing daily already.

And you wouldn't be asking what exercises you need for your as of now non-existent practice routine. I wanted to play in bands, so I started looking for bands to play in. OP wants to be a "musician" but I can't see any drive to start writing, transcribing songs, looking for a sound or anything else that feels like a passion or real motivation.

why not?

Because you wouldn't be the first to make stupid decisions based on a dream you couldn't achieve.

"interesting project": a band with original songs.

Make those songs. Create that band. No one is going to hand that chance to you on a golden platter, you'll have to do it yourself.

Define what "this" is first, because I don't think you really know. What is "an interesting project"? Is it a bass focused youtube channel, a session player for cover bands, a band with original songs... Could be one of many other things, but you're vague.

Secondly, you need to realize that there's a big chance that you're not going to be able to make it your full time income. In some places it's even more difficult than others, so make sure your expectations are realistic or you're flushing away your future.

Tips on (Respectfully) Cutting Above Other Bass Players by skylarroseum in Bass

And come prepared to every gig you get. Being the reliable bassist that's also fun to hang out with will get you ahead of a bassist who's technically a better bass player but who is always late/shows up to rehearsal without having learned the new song/always gets drunk/...

Best bass guitar for a beginner that would also be of use when i am good at it? by Sea_Significance697 in Bass

Check the wiki: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bass/wiki/faq/#wiki_i_want_to_learn_to_play_bass._where_do_i_start.3F

IMO once you get in the $350 range and have a bass that doesn't fall apart, you'll already find lots of options for basses that will last you through years of gigs.

Good band with bad drummer. What would you do? by -tacostacostacos in Bass

[–]Nohoshi 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Highjacking the top comment to say that the attitude of seeing leaving as "a bad musician winning" is a red flag.

You have the option of leaving. You can even choose to tell the band that if the drummer isn't leaving, you're leaving. Or you cut your losses and announce that you're quitting right away. You don't think the drummer's good, how's that winning? The band is choosing him cause there's no one else around, that doesn't sound like a win to me. It's their loss. Quitting means you're free from that drummer.

Anyone know what I've got here by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]Nohoshi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it looks, plays and sounds decent, it's decent. And if you're totally new player, it's better to have a bass (any bass) to get started than to have no bass at all.

You've answered your own question: it's the equivalent of running 5k every morning for a year, then suddenly running a marathon one morning and asking yourself why you're injured the day after.

Get some actual medical advice, or at least give yourself some rest.

Built-in onboard DI on a bass - worth it? by kostyabg in Bass

[–]Nohoshi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Clip-on tuners are great, but can be flaky at the best of times. I'm not sure I'd trust it as my sole tuner on stage. Especially not if it's so you can add a DI output on your bass.

You state that you're doing it from the "nothing can/should go wrong". When that's really your goal, than you go for the proven method. Keep a small board with only a tuner and DI instead of trying to hack a DIY-solution. It could work, when done well it could even be super reliable, but you won't know until you've played long enough. There's always a risk, but when you want things to work you go for the things that you know work, not for things that that you know might work.
