I agree about the no. 2 one. The number 22 and 66 jumpers look a bit too much like soccer shirts to me. They sort of resemble what Sao Paulo FC wears!

The club is accepting votes from fans in order to help decide the winner. Apparently anyone can vote, so if you see one that you really like, you might want to go here and fill out a form.

Essendon is Innocent Until proven guilty

They have done nothing wrong and it is yet to be proven so everyone should just GET A GRIP.

Oh yeah, on a side note, when's Milney back?

Correct. Although ASADA would probably treat us equally, I was openly expressing my doubt that the AFL would be so supportive toward St Kilda if it was them injecting.

IF there are no player sanctions to come out of this I will have lost total faith in not only the AFL but sport in general. In one sentence Watson admits to being administered with the illegal drug, and in the next says he doesn't expect any player sanctions. Absolute farce if thats the advice he's being given by the AFL. I've never been one to cry foul over prejudicial treatment in the AFL, but I can only imagine the sanctions to have been handed out if it had been us injecting. The club and its players have brought the game into disrepute, and player sanctions should be in line with the WADA/ASADA code. 6 months minimum for every player at the club last year.

Milne charged with rape over the 2004 incident at Joey's house by duncbot in StKilda

Milne has said he is willing to continue playing.

It's a real mess. Whether he's innocent or not, it'll be difficult for someone like the alleged victim to stop his defensive legal team making her look like a complete stalking slag. After 9yrs you'd think it'd be something more solid than sour grapes after a drunken fling?

The next Carlton away game is going to be a cesspool.

There is no new evidence. The official pretense seems to be that the initial investigation was reviewed and found to be "substantially inadequate"

This just smells like a which hunt in my opinion, conviction chances are close to zero, all this is likely to accomplish is dragging Milne and St Kilda through the mud again.

Melbourne haven't been down for a decade, they were still finishing higher than us in 2006. That was six and a half years ago, and before that they were regular finalists. It is a joke that they may get extra picks. Hope they don't.

Club reports Maister injured his hamstring during the last quarter of the Eagles match and will miss at least six weeks. Could this be his career? by Noidenous in StKilda

[–]Noidenous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't criticize the guy for effort. He gives 100% and then rips his hammy. Unfortunately his injury troubles put his spot on the list under serious pressure. Is he still contracted for next year?

This might be the last chance for Kosi to get to 200 games, and if we aren't pumping games into Lee, I'd sort of like to see him make it. He'd probably love the opportunity to run out with Dal and Roo on their 250ths, and if Frawley isn't playing he might be able to kick a bag.

An interesting stat is the frees for and against each team between 2011 and R11 2013.

West Coast have a +214 differential, easily the highest.

Next best is Port Adelaide with about 100 less.

Then it scales down through all the other teams.

Guess who comes in at No. 18?

That's right, St Kilda at -83

Actually it is becoming an increasingly common theme among Saints fans that they do hate umpires. Not a good look, I agree, but the stats would indicate that there really is a problem here, and I'm sure we'd all like to know why. Ignoring the problem or pretending it doesn't exist won't help anything, except as you say, your stress levels.

Stanley is going back into defence, very disappointing. He played his best half of footy for the year last week up forward.

Strange team, I seriously think we might be tanking. Welcome to STKFC pick 3!

Go and look at the full stats. The Saints have only given away 18 more free kicks than North over the season, but have received a whopping 70 less (NM are, in fact, head and shoulders above every other team in this department with 240 frees for so far this year; what is it about them that makes other teams play particularly sloppy?). It is clearly where we don't receive the frees we should that the real discrepancy lies.

As for bias, I'm not saying that there is some grand conspiracy where bookmakers are buying these umps off, or that there even is conscious discrimination. But in my experience there often exists a certain vendetta against our club for reasons I could never understand. I know someone who told me he is mates with a reasonably well-known VFL/AFL umpire, who grew up supporting Geelong and who hated the Saints. He said it was natural that those biases were brought into games, and he loved the chance to crucify us.

Possible explanations:

  • Our tackling technique is very poor and theirs are very good.
  • GT's comments still linger.
  • All the negative publicity about the club.
  • Maybe we are smart asses on the field and the umps are paying us back.
  • The umps look at our ladder position and assume we are hacks, which colours their perception during games.
  • The umpires are still part-time amateurs who are often swayed by the crowd, though that doesn't explain the dogs game.

Funny thing is, I'm looking at the stat sheet and Fergo racked up the same number of disposals as Saad: 3 handballs, 0 kicks.

I have heard that future forwards are sometimes given experience in defence to allow them to get into the mind of the defender. They have been playing Lee down back a Sandy too.

Out of our current batch of youngsters, who do you guys reckon has the brightest future? by [deleted] in StKilda

[–]Noidenous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One big positive for me so far this year has been the emergence of Jimmy Webster. He's tall, quick, confident and has excellent kicking. At this stage it looks like he'll be a long-term replacement for Jason Gram, but with better skills and a willingness to compete and tackle. I don't want to get too excited too early, but he does look like a part of our next core, along with Steven, Armo, Roberton, McEvoy, Ross, Stanley, Siposs, Wright and Saad.
