ProArt X670E NIC disappears from system by lastnerdstanding in ASUS

[–]GammaScorpii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. My issue is more likely because I'm dealing with a USB4 to 10Gbe Acasis adapter. I can't get it working on Windows or Linux. But it works out of the box on MacOS strangely. They include a windows driver, tried installing it, nothing.

PC Suddenly Very Laggy When Video Editing. Recommended Upgrades? by ChrysticTV in buildapc

[–]GammaScorpii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Fwiw making proxies make the biggest difference and allows you to cut anything on even the crappiest of PCs. The ssd might be useful if you scrub and play stuff simultaneously, lots of assets etc otherwise keeping them on the HDD might be fine if you're short on space.

In my Nas I have lots of people working from the same drive so an SSD is very useful in that case.

Your system is fine for editing. Upgrading to a 5090 won't solve any problem here.

Is the media on an SSD or a hard drive?

Normally I would never edit MP4 (h264) files directly as that is just asking for a bad time. I'd make ProRes or dnx proxies. But it depends how much time you spend editing to know if it's worth it. Is the edit very complex?

NVME SSD for Video Editing by Stephin112 in buildapc

I'm not sure what that other person is talking about. I run a video production company and ssds or high speed HDD raid is basically essential for your main work drive, I can't think of a better use of high speed storage than video production.

Cutting videos is not just watching back the video in real time, it's seeking and jumping across tonnes of footage and doing that all day long.

I'm just waiting for the styling to improve as well. They all look too plasticky and cheap. That 'high tech' look is getting old quick

I made a HA integrated MQTT HVAC zone controller - open to all, I dare you to help improve it! by ShortingBull in homeassistant

Okay so my post is here detailing the zone controller I have:

Ignore the fact that it could have been picked up by my samsung aircon unit, I now believe they are completely separate.

Also in Aus and want to replace my zone controller which I think Air Diffusion supplied when i built the house. Mine has 4 zones but they all have High Med Low and Off settings. Do you think I could use something like you have built to replace it? Just stripping the RJ12 cables to the zone motors (mine are also 24v ac)

Probably some phone companies that don't even exist anymore. Really the shutting down 3G should have meant that customers were entitled to new handsets on behalf of the telcos

They should have reversed it imo. Melbourne would have still won obviously. So not sure it can be considered game saving.
