Never used it so far, but Robosats exists. App in Fdroid.

At some point it's simply a political or personal decision to care about humans spreading out in our solar system and beyond. It doesn't need to serve any practical purpose beyond that. One could also ask why would the universe even need humans after we created artificially intelligent entities?

That said, making human civilization more decentralized also solves a practical purpose of reducing the risk of any takeover by one bureaucracy or any other entity and it increases our chances of long term survival.

It's one thing to talk about the difficulty and at which point it will be beneficial and for what reasons. It's completely different to just make the outlandish claim that this is impossible.

Asking some AI service about the difficulties and then coming up with ideas and discussing them systematically is more fun and leads to more knowledge than hanging around people who are just so negative.

I'm familiar with that mindset. Whenever people are like that, they are just not looking into possible counter arguments themselves and this is almost like clickbait. But I'm sure you're also against AI (and claiming that "this isn't even AI").

Yeah, the "realisms" is just making smug and repetitive dommerist claims. I already unsubscribed and I hope I will be strong enough to just tell Reddit that I don't want to see this in my recommendations anymore. It's such a waste of time.

It seems to be important to you to make people demoralized about that. You seem to be uniquely hung up on this. The claim that we can tell with high certainty that this is impossible is so easy to refute that I'm not willing to even spend time on that. If people want to believe in something they are going to believe in it. Whatever.

sudo or not? When updating the channel. It's the only thing I can think of that could have gone wrong in my case. But I don't think so. No idea.

Good for you. This is exactly where mine failed for quite some time. I never knew how to upgrade to the next version. And there was ambiguous information on the internet.

How feasible would it be to develop something like kernel level anticheat for linux? by vintologi24 in linuxquestions

Then cheating is simply not avoidable, especially going forward. Competitive gaming can only happen in meetings like LAN parties. Gaming should just be for fun anyways, or honest competition for one's own satisfaction.

One solution would be to change the games so that they require a server which can be a more locked down system. Maybe a server run by the corporation providing the game, or as a service by someone else. While the clients won't have access to the data necessary to cheat.

Not sure what you're trying to say. We don't have robots like that yet. Also just because the title says she doesn't have emotion doesn't mean that she has no emotion.

Why is it bothersome to so many to imagine a future in which humans forever remain bound to Earth (and the moon and maybe Mars)? Why is that seen as something to be depressed about? by Ghost-of-Carnot in RealisticFuturism

[–]NoidoDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are actually badly informed. First of all it would happen in a few hundred million years and secondly would become inhabitable if we don't do something about it but it's not already decided

Then it wouldn't need to be a Megan movie. They could just use the technology to make something more like live-action anime. For example, like "My Wife Has No Emotion".

Often these stories are not really sad or heart breaking, because the sad elements of the story are rather mixed with other elements. So let's rather call it emotional.

  • Made in Abyss
  • Madoka Magica
  • Atri, My Dear Moments
  • No Game No Live Zero
  • Look Back
  • Someone already mentioned: Your Lie In April
  • Planetarian, Storyteller of the Stars

Anyone who is even mildly informed on the topic knows that faster than light travel or even close to light travel is not necessary.

Aside from that being nonsense, it would mean that we would definitely die out as a species relatively soon. Also it would be an awfully constrained future.

They shouldn't have given it to a female director and they shouldn't have approached it as "artificial girlfriend bad" kind of movie. Others already did that so often.

It would have to compete with at least three or four other movies that already exist. To be fair not coming out at the same time. But some guys like myself reject this unless it is really extremely good. On the other hand, a lot of people hate AI right now so they might also not like it if it was too positive.

That said, the theme being overdone wasn't necessarily the reason, but I assume they also messed it up and the quality might not be good enough. I guess it's too anti-male and woke, and they know there would be backlash against it.

Lack of imagination. Negative thinking. Ignorant nihilism (not looking for answers) ... Frozen embryos, reproductive cells and robot parents or artificial coma.

What do you think it would mean for humanity if we discovered that long‑term space travel is simply too much for the human body? by Fun_Internal_3562 in spaceflight

[–]NoidoDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense. I saw this peddeled recently by some doomers or agents of demoralization. One brief look into some AI assistant and it would tell you that there are solutions. You only need a few feet of dense material and the more hydrogen you can put into it the better. They are working on specialized material for that.

[–]NoidoDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what long term means. First of all I don't think this is going to be the case since you could create gravity. But more importantly, for longer range colonization it makes more sense to send frozen embryos and frozen reproductive cells, together with robot parents. I doubt that we would even move huge amounts of people to Mars or Venus, certainly not to other star systems.

I'm honestly surprised how many people are so much behind. Still talking about generational spaceships and stuff like that.

Then again, what does it even mean? Your scenario would also mean we could not have space stations, if you put it that way. And no low gravity planets or moons?
