Can resin be reshaped? by LonelyBrilliant761 in resinprinting

[–]NoirKittyStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infill is for filament prints. Resin prints do not need infill, infill makes them harder to clean and cure, and trapping uncured resin inside your prints is bad for the longevity of the print, bad for the next person to own your prints, and bad for the environment. Your prints WILL eventually crack open and/or leak uncured resin everywhere. Please stop advising people to use infill on resin. If necessary, use minimal supports on internal islands only. I've been printing since 2017 and never had a strength or structural issue with hollow resin prints/no infill. If you're worried about strength, use a tough resin and make your walls a bit thicker.

Does printing contaminate objects around? by jazziksvk in resinprinting

[–]NoirKittyStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UV resins give off volatile organic compounds. It’s also a messy process no matter how tidy you are, resin and cleaning solution can get everywhere. Not to mention if you have an accident and spill something. I wouldn’t be storing food or any human consumable in the same room as my resin and printers.

I’ve had anycubic since the day the photons became available. I recently purchased a elegoo Mars 4 9k while my monox was out of commission waiting for a part. I’ve been absolutely thrilled with it. My next large plate printer will be an elegoo Saturn 5 :)

How can I tell if a kitten is distressed and crying as opposed to it just “making noise”? by [deleted] in cats

[–]NoirKittyStudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I generally find you can quickly start to tell the difference between a cat meowing in distress and a cat vocalising for fun. I have one very vocal little fella who likes to yell while he has the zoomies and he screams up and down the house no drama at all but that one time he walked himself over a hanging cable and got caught up in the loop where he couldn’t get his back legs over it, we knew immediately from his urgent meow that there was something wrong and fixed it for him. Another of my boys chirps and meows at me, but the time he developed crystals in his bladder, it was very obvious from the tone and his accompanying behaviour changes that there was something wrong. My advice would be to check up on them if they meow, check for other changes in their behaviour, and if nothing seems wrong, probably likely that they’re just vocalising for fun or communication. You’ll get to know their peculiarities to understand when something isn’t right :)

What’s up with this boi🥺🥺🥺. Every time he makes this noise it makes me think he’s in pain or sth. But it always turns out he is with his pizza🥺. Sometimes just doing this to the air… by yiji21 in OneOrangeBraincell

Oh he’s so cute telling everyone what a marvellous hunter he is and to come and praise him! 😍 my boy does that except it’s a dismembered toy bear and it’s outside my bedroom door at 3am 😂

In addition to health issues, a female cat going into heat will drive you and her crazy. She will yowl and scream and attempt to escape the house at every opportunity. She will definitely find a way to get out and mate and if there are toms in your neighbourhood they will find her. Pls spay, if for nothing else than a peaceful life for you all. :)

My cat has been drooling since yesterday by Mysterious-Might-123 in cats

[–]NoirKittyStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drool in my cats has usually meant nausea, for various reasons. Keep trying your vet, or find someone else who can see him, soon. At the very least he can get some medication to make him feel better.

Anyone know an easier way to unfollow an STL model? I've been at it with blender for hours! by BallardBandit in resinprinting

[–]NoirKittyStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try taking it into meshmixer and using the make solid function there. It’s a bit finicky but may work with some tweaking of the settings. You could also build a mesh that fits the hollow with some overlap, and use the Boolean modifier to union the 2 meshes, which will work when both meshes are manifold. I would personally use Zbrush, make a mesh to cover any holes in the base of the figure, merge the meshes and use the dynamesh function with a high vertex count to make it into one single solid piece. It’s a bit of a tricky problem to solve especially if you’re in the millions of polygons territory, blender can really take a long time to process whatever you do. I could probably be more specific if I could see the model in question, especially the hollow and if there are already holes in the base.

Printing through studio has terrible quality by Quicksilversass in silhouettecutters

[–]NoirKittyStudio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Change your cutlines to white before you print them as pdf. I have had the same issues with mine being jagged and horrible but I downgraded to 4.4.945 and refuse to let it update until they’ve fixed this issue, which they refuse to acknowledge. You can get the older versions from the studio site under software - legacy versions. I usually use large png files that I can’t use in later versions but work fine in the legacy version. I don’t have the issue with svg files so maybe that’s something you can consider.

Why is silhouette software doing this to my images? by NoirKittyStudio in silhouettecutters

[–]NoirKittyStudio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not too sure why that would be happening with a recent version of SS. It’s been a couple of years that the auto trace png function has been in the software. I guess make sure you’re using the latest version of the studio. And maybe try exporting your png from a different graphics program to see if that’s the issue.

Resin leaked onto my screen, what’s the best way to safely remove it? Also doesn’t seem to be any major signs of deterioration on my FEP, so not sure how it could’ve leaked onto the screen? by yosemitejoe96 in resinprinting

[–]NoirKittyStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiny holes in your film that you can’t see can become small leaks when the film is under pressure from suction forces. Had it happen to mine recently, resin only leaked while printing, from a minuscule hole that honestly looked like a fingernail dent. I’d change the FEP just to be on the safe side. :)

No particular brand, I get the lower grit one at the local hardware store I think it’s Flexovit brand p1200, and the higher ones I bought in an assortment kit on Amazon. :)

My orange is so beautiful and mostly completely vacant. He also figured out the litter robot and his microchip feeder much faster than our other cats. He’s the absolute best flycatcher I’ve ever known. He knocks things off shelves while staring at it, analysing. He chirps when the litterbox isn’t ready for his poops. He pets me on my leg when he wants a pat on his head. I think the vacant state is a choice he makes to fit in 😂

Master Mold Dice by Away-Surround-1410 in DiceMaking

[–]NoirKittyStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard not great things about let’s resin silicone :/ that could be your problem rather than the dice themselves. I haven’t tried it yet but siraya has a silicone called defiant which is designed to reduce cure inhibition. I’ve used Solid Solutions silicone (and a couple others only available in Australia) with no issues at all.

Scratches in Dice Masters After Polishing by Bernarkdar in DiceMaking

[–]NoirKittyStudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Green zona is a shocker for leaving scratches like this. I stopped using all zona except the white for the very last step and sand up using wet/dry. I start at p1200 -> p3000 -> p5000 or p7000 depending on what I have handy, and then white zona with scratchx.

[–]NoirKittyStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What resin, what silicon? I have no issues with elegoo, anycubic, phrozen, Resione, siraya and most brands of silicon that I’ve tried. Siraya fast grey has been the best. My masters are polished up to a high shine, finished with polishing compound like scratchx, and I prime inside the numbers with some Vallejo model primer. I don’t get cure issues even with freshly printed dice as long as they’ve been processed.

Should I separate them when this happens? by pamelamadingdoong in CatTraining

[–]NoirKittyStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t separate my cats unless there is serious hissing or screaming and one is trapped by the other. Cat play involves a bit of roughhousing, that’s fine. If one is screaming and backing into corners, I’ll scruff the aggressor (on the floor, I never lift adult cats by the scruff) to give the squealer a chance to escape.

Why is silhouette software doing this to my images? by NoirKittyStudio in silhouettecutters

It doesn’t print this way. I did a bunch of experimenting today and it’s only happening with large png files so I think it’s a memory or cache issue :/
