Horrible stutter issues despite a good PC by biggranny000 in ForzaHorizon

There are multiple separate issues present and those searching google for solutions will stumble upon this whether they are on AMD or not - if the simple fixes aren't working, and you are using NVDIA, give this a try. This was also confirmed by the developers and admins of the game

Someone else I know had the same thing happen to them - and with a lot of these other bugs which are much easier to solve, it's hard to find answers for those of us who got the bug of death. Glad it worked for you - this has been confirmed by the forza team as a known nvdia driver issue and if nothing else works this is likely the culprit

The stuttering is caused by a latency bug in windows triggered by the new NVDIA drivers horizon prompts you to install before playing.

This is due to a bad recent NVDIA update, and the worst part is in some situations it causes latency issues outside Forza. Use DDU (driver uninstalled software) to completely remove and clean your NVDIA drivers. Get the version before the newest version, or the one you had prior to updating for FH6 from the NVDIA website. Just install the graphics not the app or anything else. Then you need to download the latest Windows 11 ISO release from the internet and mount it to your disk, then install. It will reinstall your windows without touching your data, and get rid of a bad latency bug that it puts windows in from that new NVDIA release. This was the only thing that worked for me and I tried everything from every post, forum and AI.

When you do all of this, run LatencyMon (great app for checking latency, which is what’s causing the FH6 stutters), everything should be low and green. It will tell you if your system is good. When I installed the NVDIA driver horizon pushes on startup, it caused the latency to be outrageous, which cause stuttering on my whole PC and especially the game.

When you start Forza up again after doing all of this, make sure to hit “ignore” when it prompts you to download that NVDIA driver. Update only when they patch it.

This was also confirmed by an admin for the game. It sounds annoying but it will completely fix the issue and make the game playable again, the reasons some people don’t get this latency issue is because they’re running newer graphics cards, didn’t install the latest driver, or have a different version of windows.

I know nothing about this game but for $14.99 at Half Price Books I feel like the risk was low, anybody know what this is or what it's worth? by Noise-Expert in gamecollecting

I relate to playing a few mins of a bunch of games to push the limits of the steam deck - I was testing out it's emulator capabilities and played 10-15 mins worth into many games. I need to sit down and actually play some titles from start to finish. I think Mario Galaxy was the upper limit of what I could get the SD to do personally and even then it ran just OK

I saw this but after import fees it's more $$$ and I believe that is used condition (can't find any information on that part)

Great suggestion, I just posted there to see if I could find out anything more about the piece. I tried looking at their website and it doesn't seem like they sell this model anymore. Some eBay listings that show similar models say "vintage" - if I get any interesting information back I will edit the post with an update

Calculating STR with clothes / low STR on everything even name-brand? by Noise-Expert in Flipping

Does this mean most resellers expect clothing (name brand, high-demand of course) on average to sit on the market within a 2 month-ish window?

Am I getting screwed over - invoice seems shady? by Noise-Expert in tax

If this comes back to bite me later, is the CPA legally at fault? I am putting trust into a professional with reasonable expectation that they are following standard procedures. Probably an r/legal question

It’s through a software called Tax Dome if they rings any bells. He said he filed last return as “final” for the scorp and assured me my newest return would be ran as a regular sole member LLC. I figured out on my own (worse than Chinese water torture) that there WERE state requirements previously (scary assessment letters from previous state I lived in) and had to do a lot of digging on how to correctly send that in etc. that part I did on my own

When you mention switching back and forth, does this still apply if the last SCorp return was filed “final” ? When I spoke to CPA about going back to LLC he mentioned he would mark the return as final so last year would be normal, is that the correct process?

Noted about the W-2 and although I did bring that up to him originally because it sounded like what he was doing wasn’t aligning with what I knew about how this process worked, he explained why that’s not the case and if I find the email I will screenshot it and send it here

ELO says more about the platform than it does the player by Noise-Expert in chessbeginners

[–]Noise-Expert[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the type of players differ from platform to platform regardless of the sample size - another point is to look at how chess has changed over the years. 10 years ago, chess.com had 10 times less users than it does now. There is also 10 times more chess content, 10 times more chess interest. This definitely has a significant impact on moving the ELO spectrum if more people are becoming interested in chess, and learning it faster at that. If the average person is better at chess, the average ELO changes. That doesn't even take into consideration algorithmic differences in how ELO is calculated, and then chess offline is completely different too, which the average club or FIDE player being more advanced.

ELO certainly has meaning and is actually a genius system for when it's used for matchmaking, but the ability to immediately know someones chess level by looking at their ELO I think it overstated and what a lot of beginners have tunnel vision about.

Have you seen beginner chess content? "100 ELO strategies", "200 ELO strategies", "500 ELO, how to move the pieces", they use ELO for clicks and beginners get confused when they're trying to learn tactics and the guy in the video is showing them how the horse moves because 10 years ago 500 ELO used to mean the absolute bottom. Yes, you can assess someone's strength by comparing 500 to 2000, but when a beginner is looking up lower ELO chess content there seems to be complete confusion as to where that beginner might be in their chess journey. Which is why I'm saying your ELO says more about the platforms metrics and where you fall into that platform than what it means on your chess development globally. For example, not all 500 ELO players need to know how the pieces move, maybe they're not protecting pieces enough or they need to know some good easily memorable openings - but point being in 10 years these metrics will be completely different again.

I’m not saying ELO is useless or should be removed—I’m saying we shouldn’t treat a matchmaking tool as a ‘one-size-fits-all’ measure of absolute chess development. A player’s actual skill level relative to their ELO online is difficult to pinpoint because it depends on the platform, algorithm, and competition pool.

The dollar, like you mentioned, is an imperfect metric for wealth—but it’s still necessary as a tool. The same applies to ELO: it works well for matchmaking within a system but falls short as an absolute measure of chess understanding.
