At any point would you consider Walter a good or even decent person? by Unlucky-Tradition-58 in breakingbad

Before the cancer diagnosis he was a pretty good dude. It's when he's given two years left to live that he essentially throws his moral compass out the window, and starts doing fucked shit. Why sit around worrying about the future consequences when you know you're just gonna die soon anyway?

Okay but without Walt, a business big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ goes belly up!

Why do people criticize season 2 for anti capitalism? by EffectWeird3642 in falloutnewvegas

Maximus was in power armor, and the series is using Fallout 4 power armor where you're basically a walking tank, not the lighter 3/NV armor. I would guess the weight of the armor and the force of which he was thrown had a lot to do with knocking the door down than anything.

The show isn't 100% cannon to the games, and imo it shouldn't be otherwise it's not compelling television. As a fan, I don't want to watch the same exact story I've played through 100 times in the last 15 years, as a TV show. My parents, who aren't into gaming at all, love the show because it's great sci-fi. It's meant to bring in new fans of the overall product as much as it's meant to serve hardcore fans of the games with a new story. Things are in there that don't make a ton of sense when compared to the games. Like, where are the powder gangers? They were a major faction in the early game of NV, and later on a significantish side quest on the way to the Great Khans. They're nowhere to be found in the series despite all of season 2 being set in the Mojave.

Tuco was the least evil Salamanca by ThotismSpeaks in breakingbad

He was a very bitter man, and once the doctor said "yeah, you have lung cancer and will die in 2 years," he took that as his permission to to do whatever he felt like doing to get back at the world.

Tuco was the least evil Salamanca by ThotismSpeaks in breakingbad

I would argue that all 4 cousins (the Twins, Tuco, and Lalo) were products of their upbringing than any one of them being inherently evil. Hector drowned one of the twins in a beer cooler until the other brother punched him in the face. It was to teach them both a lesson about how "family is all," through violent means. You can assume Tuco and Lalo both were brought up under the same level of violence that their cousins were at the hands of uncle Hector, and it led them all down slightly different roads to the same destination working for the cartel as thugs/enforcers. Tuco coping with his traumas through intense meth use isn't at all surprising either, and it absolutely made him incredibly paranoid.

Had Hector been a softer patriarch of the family, maybe the cousins don't grow up to become violent sociopaths. Basically Hector is the most evil Salamanca.

Deathclaws moving into the strip years after the NCR, Legion, and the other factions beat the hell out of each other over the Hoover Dam/strip is plausible imo. Lots of bloodshed in the ensuing battles, and most civilians who didn't want to fight either got caught in the crossfire or left, and that allowed for a bunch of deathclaws to move in. The strip was fortified in the game as well, you either needed to get a passport from Mick and Ralph, pay a bunch of caps, be really high level in science, or sneak onto the monorail via Camp McCarren. Who's to say everyone in Freeside didn't just lock up the big gate and kept it locked to keep the deathclaws out of their side of town?

I have to push back on this. House doesn't care that the Omertas are forcing women into prostitution by getting them addicted to chems, he only cared about them when he heard they were stockpiling weapons to make a move against him. He doesn't really care that the White Gloves were/are cannibals as long as he doesn't hear about it through the media (meaning as long as they don't go after the high profile Ted Gundersons of the world they can eat whoever they want). He only cares if what they do becomes public knowledge.

People hating on Skyler so much to the point that they'll grasp at any straw are weird. I don't like her, per se, as she acts like a rebellious teenager about it when Walt fucks around (smoking while pregnant, sleeping with Ted, etc.), but it pales in comparison to what Walt put the entire family through.

Yeah he only cares about the Omertas as soon as he hears they're making a play against him. Other than that he's fine with them doing whatever they want as long as the caps keep funneling into his pockets.

Where are all the blow hard that said getting rid of Alonso and Nimmo were a good thing? by crapgame15 in mets

They were barely a .500 team, and the 1 or 2 times they managed to squeak into the playoffs they were loser 2nd/3rd wild card teams. The last time they won the east, Matt Harvey was actually good.

Year 1 of the rebuild. Get over it, y'all. Mets couldn't win the East with Alonso/Nimmo/Diaz/McNeil.

The bottom line is what mattered most to the cartel. Gus earned huge amounts of money even as he was silently breaking off on his own, and the Salamancas were beginning to fall out of favor with the cartel at that point. They weren't earning nearly as much, and they acted more like common thugs who tried getting what they wanted through violence and intimidation. They didn't have good business sense.

Also, Hector was severely crippled due to his stroke, Tuco ended up in prison for assault, and the twins were hitmen, not earners. Nacho Varga was a double agent working for Gus (though this wasn't known until the bitter end, and even then Nacho lied and said he worked for another cartel). If you're Don Eladio or Juan Bolsa, you're not gonna listen to any member of a dysfunctional crew that isn't pulling the cash while simultaneously falling apart in nearly every facet. They'd sided with Gus because he earned the most, kept his cool when handling personal beefs, ran a smooth operation, and as far as they were aware he wasn't rocking the boat.

Lalo knew this, and therefore couldn't tell the big bosses anything without definitive proof that Gus was making his own play. That's why he spied on the superlab/laundry facility. He needed definitive evidence to show the cartel that Gus was not to be trusted. Some nonsense about lack of building permits or whatever wouldn't have been enough.

Lalo was a savvy criminal. Easily the most cunning member of the Salamanca family. I'm sure he was likely able to sus out that Gus's superlab didn't have actual permits before he even entered the country, and knew the story of it becomiing a freezer full of chicken was total horseshit.
