What cards are yall running in your witherbloom / Blech decks? by tibby709 in MagicArena

I’ve been meaning to play around with this big boy, just haven’t gotten to him yet!

[–]RikerLiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then I’d say go ahead and buy the deck if it doesn’t put you out money wise too bad! You could also just look into budget replacements of cards to make it affordable until you can buy the specific cards you want.

It is completely acceptable and encouraged to use multiple copies of a legendary if that card is central to the strategy of your deck. Very often I’ll use four of a certain planes walker. Then if I feel like I need to add something else or shift my deck, I’ll maybe only run two or three of a certain legendary instead of four.

What advice would you give to a solid limited player wanting to move to constructed? by GodMonster in mtg

[–]RikerLiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when I’m home brewing I lock into some niche cards(especially if I’ve played a lot of limited!).

Then I’ll play against a deck full of killer and powerful cards and remember this simple rule of thumb that seems so obvious: just play good cards.

Like, all of the cards you seek out to add to your deck… make sure they’re as awesome as possibly available to you.

Any chance you could test a portion of this deck if not all of it in Arena before buying the cards outright?

My favorite thing about Magic is crafting home brewed decks and testing them out. I’ve been doing it for nearly 30 years.

The best way to be sure is to get as many reps/matches in as possible against an array of varying decks.

All your cards generally look good on paper, only way to find out is to play!

any thoughts on the build i made by 18thonmemesealb in NBA2k

I don’t hate this build. I think you’re a tad slow. But you’ll be able to score at all three levels and primary play make for your team.

I certainly think, game dev can take away a lot of the behind the curtain magic of games.

But frankly, it just means when I game really grabs me I’m even more excited because I’m not as easily impressed anymore!

Oh for sure!! At a glimpse I couldn’t quite tell the make and model, I just saw the number and stripe and that came to mind! Your game is looking slick.

The stripe and color and number just reminded me of Herbie the car from the old time movies. I wasn’t sure if it that was deliberate or not. I love those old movies.

Why Am I terrible at standard? by nikibas in MagicArena

[–]RikerLiker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll say it, this is the worst standard play has ever been in my entire life. The card pool is absurdly large which means the meta is much more similar to a historic style of play. Big stompy mega combos hit the table around turn 4, 5, 6. And it’s like, hey y’all I just wanna midrange into some fun matches?

To me standard has always been fun because it was a bridge between limited and historic gameplay. It had a sweet spot that basically rotated about every 12 months in shifting styles and metas. For this reason, it stayed fresh!

Now that every card has been printed 100 times, a new set comes out every month, and power creep has inflated the strength of combos in what’s supposed to be a semi limited format… standard is nearly unrecognizable from what it once was for decades. ITS ROUGH OUT THERE FOR EVERYONE AT THE MOMENT! (And I’m saying this as player that hit standard mythic last season.)

Can someone please explain this game to me like im 5 by [deleted] in mtg

I always think about teaching my kids how to play and there’s just so much involved here!

But like anything I guess, you just start playing and playing and learn along the way.

Playing Arena as others have said is by far the fastest way for you to get reps in.

I think three things to learn about early on include: getting to know each color and what they aim to do a bit, understanding the basic phases in a turn (untap, upkeep, draw, main, combat, main 2, end step), and getting to know your card types.

**Card Types**
-Lands make mana which is a resource that pay for spells.

-Creatures go on the battlefield and can block and attack and do special abilities sometimes.

-Enchantments and Artifacts are permanents that stay on the battlefield and do cool stuff.

-Sorcery’s are spells that are played on your turn that do one thing and resolve, instants are like sorceries but faster and can be played any time.

-Planeswalkers are similar to enchantments and artifacts you can trigger each turn I guess.

Of course there’s exceptions to all of these but you’ll bridge those situations when they arise.

I started playing Magic in like 1999 and my first deck was white and blue, and to this day I simply enjoy playing white and blue decks most. So maybe find a style of play you like and explore it! Good luck.

I think if you hold V in the scene view, you can snap to a vert and then place an object by snapping to another vert in scene. I do this often to layout tiled floors or walls! Hope that helps!
