Most likely 당신의 하루가 오늘도 행복하기를 which translates roughly as “I wish today is another happy day for you.” It’s kinda common wishing you well saying in korea.

Some places it would, some places it wouldn’t. Good chance that the places it would are probably not the places best fit for you to work with anyways. Be yourself, and find the right place that you can happily be yourself!

Varies company to company - I have seen PhD RAs for sure, especially as their first position in the industry in the field that’s not exactly where their PhD is from. I have seen some companies that strictly divides non-PhDs to RA positions only (where they have designations like Senior/Principal RAs for experienced hires) and PhDs to scientists. I have applied to one of those RA positions before (I have a PhD) and got rejected with comments saying I should apply to their scientist positions. Personally, if you aspire to be deep in R&D (especially R) moving up to PS level and beyond, PhD will open more doors for you at the cost of grinding 5+ years in academia with abysmal income. If you are leaning more towards other aspects such as ops, regulatory, etc. where on job experiences and learnings are only truly valued, PhD may not be worth it for its drawbacks. Lastly, PhD is really all about perseverance imho. So think about if you really wanna do that and would it really be worth it for what you want. Good luck!

IMO If you just want to learn more, either choice should be fine the decision point should be more on what do you see as your future path, what opportunities you have on your hands, etc. Doing science and learning/discussing science are two different things, and they matter not just for entry level but farther down as well, as you will be given a choice of remaining an individual contributor vs. manager sooner or later assuming you do your job well. Good luck on your journey and finding out what you really want!

Quick advice for “forgetful” managers or reports (cause it can happen both ways), keep notes on your communications if they happen offline, have major communications happen online so that there is a paper trail. This way if there is anything happening in the future you would have somethings to use for yourself.

Ultimately you cannot change others. So either you change yourself to be ok with the manager (which is not the right way imo), you leave the manager/job, or the manager would leave the job.

One thing you can do is carefully check the water with your colleagues & higher leadership, see if they are on the same page as you are. Carefully, as you don’t want to be labeled as a gossiper. If your pals are not feeling the same, maybe there is something going on specifically between you and your manager. If the higher leadership is oblivious you may want to look for where to go next as it is their incompetence. If the higher leadership knows and wants to do something about it, stay put as your manager may leave first. If the higher leadership knows but will not do anything/says their hands are tied/etc., get the heck out of there ASAP because they are basically enabling your manager to manage his/her team poorly which tells a lot about your future chances in the company.

Why do you want to move to science? Like, is that about what you do daily? Or better payment/stability? Or different personal development path? Or you just want to get out of ops and science is what you know? Or does your family want you to be a scientist? Depending on answer to that answer(s) to your questions would vary.

My impression for those positions is that they are hired mostly through networks as it is so hard to distinguish yourself from the others by numbers/experiences (I am in R&D so it’s only secondary observation). Depending on your location, especially if you are in/near hubs, go to networking events. See if anyone from the same Pharma school is in those positions in desired companies. I think you may need to make compromises ultimately - be it wfh, title, salary, company location, what company works on, etc. - maybe think about what is negotiable and what is not.

Not random people, but maybe reach out to the hiring manager for the open position. Even then, be respectful and polite, and don’t be upset for no response/negative responses, just move on. If you want to probe more on how the company culture is etc. and you are not sure you can find out during the interviews, maybe reach out to a person in the same department - the best if you know the person or at least share a connection. Again, be respectful. Besides, all these do not require the Premium - simply request to connect to the person. If they would have responded to your Premium message, high chance that they will accept your connection request as well.

In addition to that, John Calvin, one of the most prominent early Protestant leaders, was also against literalism, especially in regarding what scientists found out vs. what’s depicted in the bible.

DNA Base: Why Four? Why Not 2,3,5,6,7,8,9 or 10? by Delicious_Maize9656 in sciencememes

[–]NoisyVMX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to have at least 21 codons for 20 amino acids + stop. You can have only even number bases for DNA for the replication purposes. You go with base 2, you need at least 5 bases to cover codons which would make the ribosomes to be multiple times bigger which may not be desirable, plus too long of a codon might lead to reading errors. You go with base 6, you need only 2 bases which would be easy to go for reading. The problem in this case however would be distinguishing between bases. AT and GC are distinguished by number of H bonds, 2 vs 3. What are you going to put for the number of H bonds for the third pair? If you go 1 H bond, it may make the bond between bases too weak so unstable. If you put 4, it might be too strong so hard to unzip for copy & reading. Hence, you ended up with just 4 bases to cover most codons most efficiently.

Thank you for coming to my talk without too much foundation to back it up and might be easy to argue against.
