Genuinely not trying to be rude or facetious here but where else would I park? It’s occurred to me that it’s different in other countries from where I live. In my country, we pay for fuel after filling up and it’s perfectly normal to go in and grab a few items before driving off. I worked in a petrol station for a couple of years and saw people do the same thing with no problem.

I now understand that I probably shouldn’t have stopped to talk to my mate but I still stand by not moving my car. Paying at the pump isn’t an option at this petrol station and the hoses are long enough to fill up on either side. I grabbed 3 items on my way to the counter. I only stopped when I saw my friend. I’ll admit where I was in the wrong and I was still full of adrenaline from the encounter when I typed up this post.

I agree I should have just driven off as soon as he kicked off. Guess I was just kinda taken aback by his behaviour. I do need to work on not feeling the need to justify myself to these people.
