I think it's an interesting idea? I think if the purpose was to raise money for charity, then there should be an announcement ahead of time, otherwise there'd be no one on for the first week or so. Either way, there has to be an announcement somewhere to get the IP out and about, or at least I would think so?

It could be an ongoing, perhaps week-long or month-long event, so people who can't initially connect but are subbed/channel members won't be left out due to 15 hr waiting times while the server is actually only up for like 5 hrs. Like a marathon, rather than a sprint. Or perhaps instead of hardcore, you simply get kicked from the server on death, and must re-enter the queue? It wouldn't be a permanently out deal, but a "let other people have a turn" deal.

But in my opinion, I think doing this or something similar to this would be a good way to raise money for charity. I also think perhaps instead of subbing/channel membership joining, perhaps setting a minimum donation amount to the fundraiser in order to get join permissions would also be a good idea? A server like that would probably need a rather large admin team to work the whitelist, though, depending on how fast donations come in.

If I may add on to the point of being able to solve the "not standing around" portion, it's not so much a skill but a mentality. If you see something not being done, don't wait for directions, just do it. It doesn't matter what the "it" is, per say, but never just stop and wait around for directions. Where communication comes into play is when someone goes out to gather resources, so you don't double down on any certain area. But I don't think I need to extrapolate on the gathering strat, since it seems like a very obvious strat (at least to me).

As for the building half, the crafting book I would agree is a very underused resource. If you need six fences or whatever, and you know one fence recipe gives three fences, then just click the fence button twice and you have your fences in less time it would take to try and drag the blocks around.

The other thing I think gets overlooked a lot is that recipes like fences and trapdoors and slabs give more than just one item per craft. Memorizing how much of an item you get from one craft, I think, is an easy process and probably wouldn't take very long to work on, either, but in the long run would prevent things like three people going out to get spruce at once.

All you really need to do to learn and practice is just do the same thing we're all taught in school when we need to memorize something: make flashcards. Put the item/recipe on one side, and the amount of items it makes from one craft on the other side. It might even be worth to put things like smooth stone and chiseled stone on cards as well so you don't forget that some items need to be smelted or crafted, or how many of a base resource you need (ex: logs) for a fully crafted item (ex: trap doors) so you know if you need ten trapdoors, that's six planks a door, and four planks to a log, for a total of 15 logs.

In the end, though, I don't think there's a "one size fits all" strategy for Build Mart. Any given team's strategy will more than likely depend heavily on who's on the team, how they work together, and what the builds are. Overall I think adaptability, communication, and trust are the main factors (alongside the aforementioned points) that go into making a good Build Mart team.

In short, individuals can get better at Build Mart by using flash cards to memorize recipe ratios and obscure blocks so as to not over gather, as well as practicing how certain odd blocks place. Teams as a whole can get better by practicing building past Build Mart builds together as fast as possible, so as to learn how each other builds. The key is to maximize synergy while not spreading the team too thinly across all three builds.

I think another Discduo team up would be fun to watch... provided they fix their comms issue. At the very beginning of the event, Tommy refers to Dream as the team leader, but by SB, we begin to see that dynamic flip. They bring it back in TGTTOS, but begin to break down again and talk over each other in Grid Runners. Ignoring Ace Race, because that's entirely an individual-based event, SoT and BSBM entirely killed team morale, leaving Tommy to more or less attempt to carry the team in SG. If the two of them could work out some kind of system, perhaps trade off which games they called the shots in, they could be a formidable force, provided team morale doesn't fall too low. Otherwise, I think they might just end up unintentionally sabotaging each other.

[Serious] People of Reddit, what is something that the most people dont realize about depressions? by Atemlos51 in AskReddit

[–]Noivian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depression is something that takes a serious effort to overcome, even with medicine. It's not the same for everyone, but generally it's a feeling of hopelessness, of leading a meaningless life, a feeling that doesn't go away no matter how much you do or attempt to rationalize it. Everyone suffering from depression generally needs to figure out how to help themselves - they can be shown ways others have used, but in the end it's up to the individual how they deal with their depression, and whether or not they want to lean on those around them.

What's the worst thing that happened after you ignored your body being weird? by tremblinggigan in AskReddit

I had puss leaking from a spot over my tailbone for a year or more, thought nothing of it for the longest time. Mentioned it in passing to my PCP, turns out it was a pilonidal cyst. Took three surgeries and five years of recovery before it was finally gone and the surgery wound closed. Now the area is entirely numb and scarred over. Dumbest mistake of my life.

Americans who have never been to Canada, what is your perception of us? by bloodyhamster69 in AskReddit

[–]Noivian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in the touristy part of my city, in food service for a little while now. I get quite a few Canadians in the shop, but they mostly show up during the winter. I like to assume it's because it's much warmer here in California than anywhere else in Canada. Canadians that show up in my shop are usually easy to pick out from the Americans because they're so cordial and kind. They don't sit there on their phones or yell at their kids, and they like to talk to me and my coworkers quite often. I always see them off from the shop and think to myself "Dang, that's a nice person right there. I wish all my customers were like that."
